Inside Line Promotions – PORT ROYAL, Pa. (Sept. 9, 2025) – Trey Starks returns to Skagit Speedway this Saturday for the second-to-final 410ci winged sprint car race of the season at the track.
Starks currently ranks second in the championship standings at the high-banked oval in Alger, Wash., but is only five points out of the top spot.
“We’ve won some big ones this year, but it feels our win count is down,” he said. “Don’t get me wrong, if I only had two wins this year and they were Dirt Cup and 360 Nationals I’d be happy. But I also want to win every time I race. We have a couple more good opportunities and I think we’re capable. It’d be nice to add a couple more wins and end the season on a high note.”
Starks leads the division with three victories. He ranks second in both top fives – six – and top 10s – eight. A rough outing during the recent Skagit Nationals dropped him out of the points lead for the first time this season.
“We had poor finishes a couple of the nights and in a points battle you can’t have many bad weekends, but I think we’re in a position to be in the hunt,” he said. “We just need to do what we know how to do and close out the year strong.”
Starks ventured to Port Royal Speedway last weekend for the Tuscarora 50 – a Kubota High Limit Racing event in which he drove for Jason Meyers Racing.
Starks earned an eighth-place result last Thursday during the opening night before placing 24th on Friday and 15th in the B Main on Saturday.
“I was really happy with our speed out of the gate on Thursday,” he said. “It seemed as the track lost some grip we definitely struggled. We worked all weekend to find what we could do to make the car better for me and get it moving forward. We needed more time when the track got slower, but I think both parties learned a ton.
“Big picture, I was very happy to be able to do it and despite some of our results I had a very nice time out there. Between getting back to Pennsylvania and seeing a lot of friends I’d made running there, running at one of my favorite tracks and working with the guys at Jason Meyers racing, it made it really nice to be out there. I feel like I was able to offer some of my input from both racing at Port Royal earlier in my career and having a lot of experience now as a driver. I had a great time and would definitely do it again.”
