The Applefest 100 rolled into Tri-City Raceway Park Saturday night, bringing high-stakes action and a lineup of drivers ready to go the distance. In the Shawgo Real Estate/Penn Ohio Pro Stock Series 40-lap feature, it was all Jackson Humanic—but the road to victory was anything but smooth. Humanic powered to the lead off turn two on the opening lap and set the tone early. Just as he started building a gap, the first caution flew when Rod Laskey was charging up from 10th until he got tangled up with Jason Fosnaught in lapped traffic, collecting Corey MacQueen and ending Laskey’s run.

Back under green, Humanic pulled away again until another caution flew on lap 28 after Hayden Fosnaught looped it in turn three. A couple of clean laps followed before Brandon Conner started breathing down Humanic’s neck with just three to go. But just as things heated up, Fosnaught’s night ended with a mechanical failure, bringing out the yellow once again and keeping Humanic out front. After one more lap, a final caution for debris set up a two-lap dash to the finish. Bobby Whitling made one last charge, but Humanic stayed steady to finally score his first Applefest victory.

“We’ve been close before in the Applefest—but finally, we’re not a bridesmaid anymore,” Humanic said in victory lane. “Big thanks to my family and sponsors. I think the engine was starting to give up there at the end—Conner almost had me, and Bobby was right there too. Just glad we got to the end.”

The win earned Humanic $2,500, plus $1,680 in lap money for leading every single lap, for a total payout of $4,450. Whitling settled for second, Conner came home third, with Jake Whitling and Matt Bernard rounding out the top five. Andy Buckley, Brett Hutira, Josh Seippel, Pat Fielding, and Curtis L. Bish Jr. completed the top ten. A shoutout goes to Pat Fielding for locking in full lap sponsorship for the event.

The Clarion County Community Bank RUSH Stock Car feature had a little bit of everything. Raidden Wilson grabbed the early lead and held it through lap five, until Jim Buchanan and Michael Smiley got together in turn four to bring out the first caution. On the restart, Cameron Kramer took over and paced the field through lap nine. But debris brought out the second caution, followed by another spin from Buchanan and a stalled car from Cole Stickland that slowed the race again. When the race finally settled down, it was William Baker who pounced on the final restart and never looked back, collecting the $750 winner’s check and notching his third straight Tri-City win.

“We’ve been strong here lately,” said Baker. “The track’s been great all season, and we’ve really hit our stride here the last few shows.”

The RUSH Sportsman Modifieds produced one of the most dramatic finishes of the night. Logan Lockhart, still in his teens, grabbed the early lead off turn two and stayed there until lap four, when the only caution of the race flew for debris. On the restart, veteran Darin Gallagher took advantage and slipped into the lead, but Todd English was right behind him and ready to challenge. English tried multiple times to get under Gallagher, but the 23 car held strong—until the final corner of the final lap. Gallagher drifted just high enough, and English made his move, sliding underneath and taking the win at the line.

“Man, that was an epic battle,” English said. “Darin raced me clean. I waited for the opportunity, and it finally came in the last corner. This place is just fun to race—it really is.”

Gallagher had to settle for second after leading much of the race. Kole Holden, Lockhart, and Karston King made up the rest of the top five.

The Mini Stock 20-lap feature had its drama right out of the gate. Just one lap in, Tim Callahan and Jordan Wheeler tangled while racing for the lead off turn four, ending both of their nights. That opened the door for Jacob Wheeler to absolutely dominate. He laid down a blistering pace, lapping the entire field except second-place finisher Joe Campbell, and crossed the line with a massive lead.

“Man, that was fun,” said Wheeler. “That was the goal when we got here, and we nailed it. We’re heading home with the $600 and a clean sweep.”

Domingo Exhevarria, Mike Kelley, and Mike Barr rounded out the top five.
