HOWARD TAKES NINTH USCS WIN OF THE SEASON AT SOUTHERN RACEWAY

MILTON, FL - September 20, 2025 -
USCS National Point leader Dale Howard of Byhalia, MS took his ninth win of the 2025 season on Saturday night in the 30-lap Feature Race for the United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour Presented By Hoosier Racing Tire at Southern Raceway. Howard took the lead on lap three and never looked back to post his 35th career USCS victory.

Coen McDaniel of Gaffney, SC finished second and 16-time USCS National Champion, and National Sprint Car Hall of Fame Inductee, Terry Gray of Bartlett, TN started eighth and finished third to earn the Wilwood Disc Brakes Hard Charger of the Race Award. Jeff Willingham of Ripley, MS took the fourth spot, and fifth went to Blake Carrier of Amite, LA.

Kyle Mabry of Cottondale, FL took the sixth spot and D.L. Brashier of Ethel, LA was seventh. Terry Witherspoon of Jacksonville, FL came home in the eighth spot after leading the first two laps of the race and Trey Meredith of Dade City, FL finished ninth. Lance Moss of Cherryville, NC rounded out the top ten.

In preliminary action, Witherspoon won the six-lap Hoosier Racing Tire Speed Dash to earn the Pole Position for the 25-lap Feature Race. The two eight-lap Heat Races were won by McDaniel in the Engler Machine & Tool First Heat, and Meredith in the Schoenfeld Headers Second Heat.

Witherspoon took the lead at the start of the race from the pole position, followed by Howard, McDaniel, Moss and Meredith. The second lap saw Merdith pass Moss for the fourth spot, but they traded the spots back on lap three. Meanwhile up at the front of the pack, Howard made what would be the winning pass, driving around Witherspoon for the lead.

Moss got by McDaniel for the third spot on lap 11, but the position change was negated by the first of three caution flags when Bubba Jones of West Memphis, AR spun in turn four and collected Jake Brashier of Denham Springs, LA. Meredith passed Moss for the fourth spot on the restart, and Moss began to fall off the pace on lap 13.

Meredith spun out of the fourth spot in turn two on lap 14 to bring out the second caution flag and was out for the night. Moss also retired to the pit area during the caution period to rerack the top five for the restart.

Howard led Witherspoon, McDaniel, Gray and Willingham down for the restart in the top five. With ten laps to go, Howard held a 1.262 second lead over Witherspoon, and the third caution flag came out on lap 21 when Witherspoon spun out of the second spot on the back straightaway. Howard wasn’t challenged in the last ten laps of the race and took a 1.750 second margin of victory over McDaniel under the checkered flag.

The next two events for the United Sprint Car Series Outlaw Thunder Tour Presented By Hoosier Racing Tire will take place on Friday night, September 26 and Saturday night, September 27 with two complete shows at I-75 Raceway in Sweetwater, TN.
