Officially in charge of the USAC National Sprint Cars Rookie of the Year standings, Columbus, Indiana's Gunnar Setser put it all together in his weekend stretch through Indiana and Michigan, not only earning back-to-back heat race triumphs in stops at Paragon Speedway in Paragon, Indiana, and Butler Speedway in Quincy, Michigan, but accomplishing back-to-back feature top-tens in the process - enough to keep Setser on top of the Rookie standings.
In fact, Setser's performance was consistent through and through, finishing eighth and ninth, respectively, while commencing main event competition from ninth and eighth, respectively. In all, a sound weekend, nonetheless, now tenth in the USAC national standings, maintaining a ten point advantage in the rookie chase over Hayden Reinbold.
