Antioch, CA...After a one week break, racing resumes at Antioch Speedway this Saturday night. It's the first of three-straight October races as the 2025 season nears an end. Saturday's show will feature the second appearance of the NARC Winged 410 Sprint Cars, joined by the BCRA/USAC Midgets as part of Open Wheel Octoberfest.

Back in May, the Sprint Cars put on a thrilling show for the crowd as point leader DJ Netto of Hanford scored his second and most recent victory of the season ahead of Billy Aton of Benicia, San Jose's Bud Kaeding and Tim Kaeding and Jake Andreotti of Castro Valley. Championship contender Sean Becker of Oroville was leading when misfortune struck on Lap 20.

Netto has been consistent all season as the 2019 NARC Series champion looks to win his second title. After Becker scored a season best second at Tulare last week, Netto leads him by just seven points. With one victory to his credit this year, 2017 Series champion Bud Kaeding is only 21 points out of the lead in third, while Dominic Gorden of Clovis is 63 points out of the lead in fourth. While Gorden is still technically in the battle, it looks as if one of the Top 3 drivers will win this championship with only three races remaining.

The highly competitive NARC Series, which has competed at over a dozen tracks between California, Oregon and Washington, has seen 12 different winners this season. Last week, it was Jacksonville, Oregon's Tanner Holmes picking up the Chris and Brian Faria Memorial victory at Tulare. Reigning Series champion Justin Sanders of Watsonville leads the winner's list with seven, trailed by Alice Springs, Northern Territory, Australia racer James McFadden. In his late Spring visit, McFadden picked up four wins in five races to beat Giovanni Scelzi of Fresno by three points for the Fastest Five Days In Motorsports Series championship.

A field of 20 or more competitors is anticipated this week. A further look at the standings finds Gage Garcia of Lemoore in fifth, followed by rookie Mariah Ede and Caeden Steele, both of Fresno, Sanders, rookie Tyler Thompson of Harrisburg, Oregon and Shane Golovic of Fremont. Two local area racers, Dylan Bloomfield of Oakley and Joey Ancona of Clayton, have given the fans something to cheer for over the last two seasons. Bloomfield finished third in the race in 2024, while Ancona won the Dash and finished third in the 2023 race.

The Midget organizations of California are coming together Saturday night for a $2,000 to win race that should bring all of the top drivers to town. The BCRA and WMR Midget groups have combined to create the Super Series, and the car counts have grown for them as a result. With the Avanti Windows & Doors USAC Western States Midget Series coming to town as part of their championship season, fans of Midget racing will be in for a treat.

The most recent BCRA/WMR Super Series race took place at Petaluma a few weeks ago. This was the Tom Manning Memorial race, and Jake Andreotti of Castro Valley picked up the victory. A check of the winner's list for the five races held so far for the series finds Fremont's Shane Golobic winning twice with Tanner Carrick of Lincoln and BCRA point leader Caden Sarale of Stockton getting the other wins. Golobic won the Antioch race in May ahead of Sarale and WMR point leader Logan Mitchell of Santa Cruz.

Mitchell has won six of the seven races held so far for WMR, and he has also done well in the Super Series with four Top 5 finishes keeping him third in the standings. As the top WMR legal competitor, he stands to win a $1,000 bonus this year. Sarale, meanwhile, leads the standings by 64 points over Dane Culver of Riverside as Dale Johnston of Olivehurst and Hall of Famer Floyd Alves of San Carlos make up the balance of the Top 5.

Having won the last two BCRA championships with an eye on a third-consecutive title, Sarale has also been competing with USAC this year. With three victories in eight races, he holds a 58 point lead over TJ Smith of Fresno, while Culver is 51 points behind Smith in third. Moor Park's Todd Hawse and Connor Speir of Fillmore round at the Top 5.

As the speedway gets set for some great open wheel action this Saturday, the racing community has been abuzz with excitement leading into the Fifth Annual Pacific Coast Hobby Stock Nationals on October 18th, which will pay $3,000 to win. Before we get there, however, Saturday's show is the final opportunity to see the NARC Winged 410 Sprint Cars in Antioch this season, and it promises to be a show you won't want to miss.

The gates will open at 5:00 with the first race starting at 6:00. Adult tickets are $35, Senior/Military $25, Kids (5-12) $25 and kids four and under free.
