Antioch, CA...October 11...DJ Netto of Hanford won the 30 lap NARC Winged 410 Sprint Car Main Event Saturday night Antioch Speedway. This was his second Antioch win in as many visits this year and third on the circuit, which keeps him in the lead as he contends for his second championship with the series.
After winning the Dash, Netto had the pole for the feature race and charged into the lead ahead of Dominic Scelzi. The race immediately saw a red flag when Max Mittry of Redding and Bud Kaeding of San Jose tangled in Turn 4 with Kaeding flipping. Kaeding made repairs for the restart as Netto led Scelzi and Cannon McIntosh of Bixby, Oklahoma. Another red flag waved on Lap 9 when Bud Kaeding rolled in Turn 4.
Netto continued to lead Scelzi on the restart as Dominic Gorden of Clovis settled into third. However, a red flag waved on Lap 10 when Dylan Bloomfield of Oakley and Jarrett Soares of Gilroy tangled with Soares flipping in Turn 4. Netto continued to lead Scelzi and Gorden on the restart. A yellow flag waved on Lap 17 for Kalib Henry of Sacramento on the backstretch. As Netto bolted ahead on the restart, Scelzi flipped in Turn 2 for the final red flag of the race.
Netto led Gorden and Jesse Schlotfeldt of Arlington, Washington on the final restart. Sean Becker of Oroville made it a fierce three-car battle for second. Becker briefly gained third, but Schlotfeldt made a high pass and in Turn 4 on Lap 25 to retake the spot. Gorden closed in on Netto, who caught traffic. However, Netto kept his cool during the final few circuits and brought it home to a satisfying victory. Gorden was a strong second, followed by Schlotfeldt, Becker and Mittry.
Braden Chiaramonte of El Cajon won the 30 lap BCRA/USAC Midget Main Event. Last season's Sprint Car Challenge Series runner-up Chiaramonte made his winning move with six laps to go and went on to collect the $2,000 victory.
Recent Petaluma Speedway Tom Manning Memorial winner Jake Andreotti of Castro Valley took the lead from Dane Culver of Riverside on the second lap and led through three yellow flag slowdowns during the first nine laps. The worst incident on Lap 6 saw Drake Cardey of Riverside flip in Turn 4 after tangling with Connor Speir of Fillmore. BCRA and USAC Midget point leader Caden Sarale of Stockton ran second behind Andreotti on Lap 10 with Chiaramonte third.
A Lap 12 yellow flag eliminated both Speir and Hailey Lambert of Oxnard, and Andreotti led Sarale and Chiaramonte on the restart. As Andreotti pulled away, Chiaramonte had a brief battle with Sarale for second before taking the position on Lap 14. Chiaramonte rapidly closed in on Andreotti before making a high pass in Turn 2 on Lap 25 to take the lead. The leaders caught slower traffic, but Chiaramonte made the right moves to bring it home to victory, followed by Andreotti, Sarale, Culver and Kaleb Montgomery of Templeton.
Racing resumes next Saturday night with the biggest Hobby Stock race of the year. The Fifth Annual Pacific Coast Hobby Stock Nationals will pay $3,000 to win. The IMCA Stock Cars have been added for a $1,000 to win race, and the Mini Stocks will pay $400 to win in their championship season finale.
