Matt Covington Lands Podium and Top-Five at Salt City Speedway

Glenpool, OK (October 15, 2025) — Matt Covington capped off a strong weekend with a podium and top-five finish, scoring 4th and 3rd aboard his Triple X / Outlaw Wings No. 95 machine with the ASCS National Tour at Salt City Speedway in Hutchinson, Kansas.

Covington kicked off Friday night with a 2nd-place effort in group qualifying, earning him the pole position for his heat race. He led flag-to-flag to claim the heat win. A redraw of six placed him on the third row for the dash, where he finished 4th, lining him up on the outside of row two for the feature.

In the A-Main, Matt battled on the narrow-groove half-mile but ultimately crossed the line in 4th.

“We would’ve liked to land on the podium Friday, but the track had a dominant groove and it was tough to pass,” Matt said. “I don’t think we had anything for Whit out front, but it was good to have a clean race and another solid top-five.”

Saturday saw the Keizer Wheels / Missile Motorsports No. 95 start from the pole in his heat once again after narrowly missing fast time in his qualifying group. Matt went on to score his second straight heat win of the weekend. Unfortunately, another redraw of six placed him on the third row for the dash. He advanced a couple of spots to finish 4th, setting him up to start 4th in the A-Main.

At the drop of the green, Covington quickly moved into 3rd and held the position for the remainder of the race. Closing the gap on the leaders a few times, he settled for 3rd, and a strong podium finish at the checkers in his Reece Construction / Fisher Racing Engines mount.

“We made some improvements from Friday and were better early in the night,” said Covington. “We had good speed in the feature and made some gains as well, but what we picked up with the left rear stick, we couldn’t quite match on the right rear. Drawing 6th both nights in the dash definitely didn’t help with how fast and narrow the track was. When I started searching around, that lack of equal right-rear drive hurt us late in the run to have a shot. Whit was really strong and definitely the class of the field both nights. Still, I think we found a package that’ll have us in contention next time we’re here. Hopefully we can keep that balance and speed rolling into Tulsa this weekend.”
