A Night for the Champions — and the Camerons! Cameron Smith, Freddie Rahmer, Cameron Merriman and Dylan Norris Win as Rahmer and Norris Earn 2025 Championships
The 2025 racing season at Lincoln Speedway came to a dramatic close on Saturday night with the GPS Final 50, a 50-lap, $15,000-to-win showdown for the 410 sprint cars. The marquee event also featured a $5,000 halfway bonus courtesy of York Excavating, and the battle for both the race win and the championship came down to the final lap.
Lance Dewease and Freddie Rahmer led the field to green for the final time in 2025, with Dewease jumping out front to lead the opening circuits. Behind him, Rahmer and Troy Wagaman went wheel-to-wheel in an intense battle for both second place and the season championship, with Rahmer edging ahead as the field settled in.
By lap four, the first caution waved for Jordan Givler, who spun in turn two as Kyle Moody executed a 360 spin. On the restart, Rahmer charged low, pulling alongside Dewease and taking the lead down the backstretch. Dewease stayed close, refusing to let Rahmer get away, while Chase Dietz, Danny Dietrich, and Mike Bittinger all made moves inside the top ten.
A caution on lap 11 for Chad Trout and another on lap 12 for Bittinger and Domenic Melair slowed the pace, but Rahmer remained strong out front with Dewease and Cameron Smith in pursuit. As the laps clicked away, Rahmer caught the tail end of the field just before the halfway point.
At lap 25, Rahmer crossed the line first to claim the $5,000 York Excavating halfway bonus, leading Dewease, Smith, Wagaman, and Dietrich at the open red for fuel and adjustments.
When racing resumed, Dewease’s night took a turn as he slowed on lap 27, bringing out the caution and ending his run inside the top five. Smith quickly turned up the heat on Rahmer, using the high side to close in before inching ahead at the line on lap 31. From there, the battle for podium positions intensified. Wagaman took second from Rahmer, while Dietz moved into fourth before a wild series of position swaps among the top five.
With just two laps to go, the red flag flew for Dietz and JJ Loss, who both flipped in turn four. The incident set up a green-white-checkered finish, but chaos continued as Norris spun in turn four on lap 49, forcing a one-lap shootout for the $15,000 top prize and the championship.
When the green dropped for the final time, Cameron Smith nailed the restart, holding off Wagaman and Danny Dietrich to capture the win in one of the most dramatic season finales in recent Lincoln Speedway history.
After the checkered flag, it was determined that Freddie Rahmer claimed his fifth track championship by just five points over Troy Wagaman.
Rahmer Battles Through Restarts and Traffic for Lincoln Speedway Victory
The 410 sprint car portion of the racing program at Lincoln Speedway kicked off with the 25-lap make-up feature, postponed from September 27. What began as a chaotic start turned into an action-packed battle for the win, with Freddie Rahmer ultimately coming out on top after a fierce fight through lapped traffic.
The initial start was halted for a tangle in turn four involving Dylan Norris and Talan Haas. On the second attempt, Troy Wagaman grabbed the lead off turn two before the red flag waved for Dallas Schott and Aaron Bollinger, who came together again in turn four.
A third attempt resulted in a multi-car pile-up after the front row made contact that left the Chad Trout, Billy Dietrich, Logan Rumsey, and Chris Arnold stopped with nowhere to go. Pole-sitter Troy Wagaman, suffered damage and made repairs in the pits prior to rejoining the field. Officials lined the field up for a single-file restart for the fourth try.
Once racing finally got underway, JJ Loss led the way with Rahmer right on his tail, followed by Kyle Moody, Cameron Smith, and Gerard McIntyre. The yellow flew on lap five for Rumsey, who came to a stop in turn four. On the restart, a false start brought the field back under caution before the race resumed.
Rahmer wasted no time challenging for the lead, despite a damaged front wing. He slid Loss for the top spot and the two drag-raced to the line with Loss holding the slight advantage. Rahmer made the move stick out of turn four as the battle intensified, with Moody joining the mix to make it a three-car fight for the lead.
Moody powered into second as Rahmer began working through lapped traffic by lap 12. The top four cars broke away from the rest of the field in an intense mid-race stretch. Moody closed in as they diced through traffic but got too high in turn four while trying to clear a slower car, allowing Loss to reclaim second.
As the laps wound down, Rahmer maintained control at the front, navigating traffic smoothly to secure the checkered flag in the 25-lap make-up feature. Going into the night Wagaman held a 105 point advantage over Rahmer in the championship point standings. After the make-up feature, Rahmer held a 55 point advantage over Wagaman going into the final race of the season.
Merriman Caps 2025 Season with Dominant 358 Sprint Car Victory
The 2025 season at Lincoln Speedway came to a close on Saturday night with the 358 sprint cars taking center stage for the final feature of the year. In a strong late-season performance, Cameron Merriman powered to victory, taking the lead early and cruising through lapped traffic to secure the win.
Cole Small led the field into turn one at the drop of the green, with Brayden Mickley, Cameron Merriman, Andy Best, and Jude Siegel rounding out the top five. Merriman immediately went to work, challenging Mickley for second before the yellow flag waved on lap two for Jeremy Taylor, who spun in turn three.
On the restart, Best looked low under Merriman but couldn’t complete the pass. Moments later, Merriman found his rhythm, making a successful move around Mickley to take over second.
The red flag flew on lap seven for a multi-car incident in turn two involving Brian Wolf Jr., Jeremy Taylor, and Travis Hankey. When racing resumed, Merriman wasted no time going after the lead—charging to the outside of Small and taking command down the backstretch.
Once out front, Merriman set a blistering pace, stretching his lead to more than four seconds as the laps wound down. With five to go, lapped traffic came into play, but Merriman maintained control while Mickley closed in on Small for the runner-up spot in the final circuits.
At the checkered flag, it was Merriman scoring the victory to close out Lincoln Speedway’s 2025 season in style, followed by Small, Mickley, Best, and Siegel.
Norris Scores Sixth Win of the Season in 358 Sprint Car Make-Up Feature
The 358 sprint cars kicked off Saturday night’s racing program at Lincoln Speedway with the make-up feature originally scheduled for September 27. The 20-lap event saw Logan Spahr and Bo Gordon lead the field to the green for the 13th feature of the 2025 season.
Spahr jumped to the early lead off turn two while Scott Fisher quickly challenged Gordon for second, taking the spot before the yellow flag waved on the opening lap for Steve Wilbur, who came to a stop on the front stretch.
Spahr led Fisher, Gordon, Frankie Herr, and Ashley Cappetta to the restart. Herr made a move to the outside of Gordon to claim third at the line and the two battled side-by-side before Herr secured the position. Meanwhile, Dylan Norris was on the charge, moving into the top five after getting by Cappetta and then advancing to fourth, sending Gordon back to fifth.
Norris continued his climb, taking third from Herr before setting his sights on Fisher for second. As Spahr began to catch the tail end of the field, Norris closed the gap and made the pass for the lead down the backstretch. Spahr attempted to slide him back in turns one and two, but Norris held firm out front.
The caution flew on lap 13 for Travis Hankey, who faced the wrong way in turn two, setting up a restart with Norris leading Spahr, Fisher, Herr, and Gordon. Norris pulled away from the field while Cody Fletcher worked his way past Cappetta for sixth.
Another caution appeared on lap 17. Spahr, who had been running second, slowed under the caution and was unable to continue. That saw Fisher, Herr, Gordon, and Fletcher in the top five for the restart.
The race ended with a green-white-checkered finish, and Norris once again showed his dominance, pulling away to score his sixth win of the season. Behind him, Fisher held second while Herr, Fletcher, and Gordon battled for the final podium position to the checkered flag. Herr held on for third and Fletcher crossed the line fourth. Gordon completed the top five.
