Inside Line Promotions - FRESNO, Calif. (Oct. 3, 2013) - Dominic Scelzi is 1-for-2 in micro sprint action this season.
His next test comes this weekend at Lemoore Raceway in Lemoore, Calif., for the 4th annual California Cup. Scelzi will pilot a nonwing house car for Pace Chassis owner Scott Coffman on Friday and Saturday at the prestigious event.
"I've got pretty high expectations," Scelzi said. "I've won this race twice. I'm racing with all the people I've raced with my whole life. This is a car specifically made for the nonwing division so it works really good. Scott and I work well together so I'm expecting two nights of good racing."
Scelzi swept the event in 2011 and he picked up a micro sprint feature victory with the Coffman team at Plaza Park Raceway in Visalia, Calif., earlier this season. After spending most of this season in a full-sized sprint car, Scelzi's attention now shifts to Lemoore Raceway for one of the biggest micro sprint events of the year.
"It is a big adjustment," he said. "The nonwing micros drive a lot like a full midget. I figured it was a good deal to get back in one of these gearing up for Chili Bowl."
Scelzi is scheduled to return to his sprint car on Saturday, Oct. 12, at Kings Speedway in Hanford, Calif., for the Cotton Classic with the King of the West 410 Sprint Car Series.
