Freeman to Wrap Up First Micro Sprint Season at Longhorn Shootout

Inside Line Promotions – LONGVIEW, Texas (Dec. 2, 2013) – Although Cody Freeman hasn’t raced his micro sprint for more than a month, he has continued his learning.

The youngster from Longview, Texas, has been focusing on school since the last time he competed in his restricted winged micro sprint during the first weekend in November. Freeman returns to the track this Friday and Saturday for the Longhorn Shootout at Texas Motorsport Expo in Mesquite, Texas.

“It’s one of the highly anticipated races in Texas,” he said. “As a Texas driver, the Longhorn Shootout is considered a prestigious race. It’s more of a bragging rights type of deal. It’s a good end of the year, blow off steam and let’s have at it kind of event.”

As his first year in a micro sprint is about to conclude, Freeman has found his groove heading into the season finale. He has five straight top-five finishes, including a trio of runner-up performances, and 13 consecutive top 10s.

“Being a new team in 2013 nobody on the team had any experience,” he said. “We had no clue on how to drive the car, set the car up. As the team has progressed throughout the year and I have gotten comfortable behind the wheel, it has really come around.”

The team is comprised of three generations from the Freeman family. With Cody as the pilot, his father, Nick, and grandfather, Wesley, set the car up and serve as the crew. An uncle, Ryan, also helps when he can.

“It’s a 100 percent family,” Cody Freeman said. “It’s three generations of family working together every weekend and two-to-three days of the week.”

SEASON STATS –

SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT – C&J Energy Services

C&J Energy Services was founded in 1997 and the company soon established itself as a premium provider of hydraulic fracturing and coiled tubing services. In 2011, it became a publicly traded company listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol CJES. That same year C&J acquired Total Equipment and Service, now the primary equipment supplier, thus adding extensive manufacturing capability to its offerings. In 2012, C&J acquired Casedhole Solutions, a premium provider of perforating, pipe recovery, wireline logging, pressure pumping and other services. “C&J Energy Services is the driving force behind our success,” Freeman said. “Without them we wouldn’t have been able to achieve our accomplishments we have in our first year of micro sprint racing. I want to give a special shoutout to Mike Hobbs, who was my first real sponsor running go-karts in 2012.”

Freeman would also like to thank Casedhole Solutions, Frank Henry Equipment and McCallister Performance Marketing for their continued support.
