Inside Line Promotions – FORNEY, Texas (May 12, 2014) – John Binz is set to make his return to micro sprint racing this weekend.
Binz’s season debut and his first career trip to Superbowl Speedway in Greenville, Texas, is slated for Saturday with the TOWR Series in nonwing action.
“To have a top 10 would be the goal,” he said. “Just be smooth and use my head. I think that’s a big thing that got me in trouble last year. I wasn’t patient.”
Binz competed in 25 micro sprint events last season – earning six top fives and 12 top 10s – before selling his operation at the beginning of September. He recently put together a new team to race approximately 10-to-15 events throughout Texas this season.
“My objective is to be a contender and to be able to race for top fives,” he said. “We were close to winning last year. I had a good enough car.”
Saturday’s race at Superbowl Speedway will be the first step.
“It will be kind of a shake-down night,” he said. “I don’t even know what the track looks like. I’ve heard from a couple of people it’s close to Mountain Creek Speedway in Grand Prairie and we ran well there last year. Hopefully we can come out of the box with a good run.”
