Freeman Garners Podium Finish in Debut at Mountain Creek Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – KENNEDALE, Texas (June 2, 2014) – A new weekend yielded another podium finish for Cody Freeman, who capitalized on a fresh engine during a Texas doubleheader last Friday and Saturday.

Freeman kicked off the weekend on Friday with his micro sprint debut at Mountain Creek Speedway in Grand Prairie, where he finished where he started – fifth – in his heat race.

“Having a new motor in the car and feeling it out, we knew we had to make some gear changes,” he said. “I raced it really conservative. I didn’t press the issue on anything.”

That started Freeman on the inside of the third row for the main event.

“In the feature I was able to feel the car out better,” he said. “It was a hammer-down track so it was very fast. Overall, the cars were all stacked on each other’s bumpers. There wasn’t really a gap.”

Freeman competed within the top five for the entire race before being scored with a third-place result, which was his sixth top five of the season.

The weekend wrapped up on Saturday at Kennedale Speedway Park.

“Keith Martin spent a lot of time giving me driving tips and he set the car up on Saturday,” Freeman said. “It was a tremendous experience. We’d really like to thank Keith and Donald Nicholson.”

Freeman finished third in his heat race and started the main event on the inside of the third row for the second straight night.

“The car was good and it was fast,” he said. “It became a one-lane race track and you couldn’t go high.”

Freeman powered toward a podium spot a couple of times, but missed his line to slide out of the racing groove and give back the positions. He ended with a sixth-place finish.

“I drove it a little more conservative than I should have,” he said. “We feel like we made a lot of progression throughout the weekend.”

Freeman will be back in action this Friday at Mountain Creek Speedway and on Saturday at Gator Motorplex in Willis, Texas.
