Corn Belt Clash vs MARS Dirtcar Super Late Model Shootout to bring the Roar to The Park
Jefferson, SD-The constant weather systems in the Siouxland area the past month have caused the Park Jefferson Speedway to move back its opener to Thursday, June 26 which will feature the Corn Belt Clash and MARS Dirtcar Super Late Models. The opening night of the fantastic five racing series will now be Saturday June 28. We apologize to the fans who were hoping to attend the opening night this Saturday.
“We have been working hard to get the facility back in shape, but the rain caused a delay in our bleacher repairs and work on the front stretch wall. The actual track should be ready, but the pits and grandstands have work yet to do” stated manager Josh Holt. In addition, major repair work will be required on the roof prior to the bar area opening this summer. The special opening night will feature some of the top Super Late Model drivers in the upper Midwest. The Corn Belt Clash series point’s leaders are Brian Birkohofer and Chris Simpson, who are coming off solid runs at the Eldora Speedway Dirt Late Model Dream. Also at the top of the standings are Chad Simpson and Terry Phillips. The MARS series points are led by Tony Jackson Jr and Jesse Stovall. Late model drivers are expected from 8 different states to challenge for the top prize.
The undercard for the night has changed as the sport modifieds have been removed and replaced by street stocks. J & J Fitting has come on board to sponsor the return of Street Stocks to the facility for this special event. J&J Fitting is a leading mechanical contractor in the Sioux City area and are also the sponsor of the Casey Jones racing 013 street stock. The street stocks will run for a $300 first prize and will run along with hobby stocks, sport compacts and thunder cars. The purse for the Street Stocks is as follows: 1)300 2)225 3)175 4)140 5)110 6)100 7)90 8)90 9)80 10)70 11)60 12-20)50 . All other purses are posted on the Park Jefferson website under Rules. Park Jefferson’s opening night featuring the fantastic five classes will bring the track alive just two nights after the Thursday night special. There are a number of racers who have indicated they will be in attendance for the return of racing to the Park Jefferson Speedway. Tickets for opener will be $11 for adults, $7 for children 8-16 and children 7 and under will be free. The $1,000 to win modified challenge will be rescheduled for either July 12 or July 26.
