[b World of Outlaws Wrap-Up: 34 Raceway, Charter Raceway Park & Cedar Lake Speedway]

[i Concord, NC—July 13, 2009]

[u Gearing up for the Month of Money:] Donny Schatz won on Sunday night at Cedar Lake Speedway to earn his ninth A-Feature victory of the season, as the series continues a busy stretch that will see them competed 14 times in the month of July. That stretch continues with three races this week, including the Brad Doty Classic and the $50,000 Kings Royal at Eldora Speedway, which will kick off the traditional “Month of Money.”

“This is a new race car that we took out last week and ever since we took it out, it’s been flawless,” shared Schatz on Sunday night. “These guys have done a wonderful job getting it to work so awesome on the race track. Man we are pumped up right now. There’s no better time to get a victory than right now.”

[u Winning in front of the boss:] Joey Saldana was victorious last Wednesday night at 34 Raceway in Iowa with his car owner Kasey Kahne in attendance. It was Saldana’s series leading 12th victory of 2009, tying his career high with the series. The native of Brownsburg, Indiana also had the opportunity to race with Kahne on hand on Sunday night at Cedar Lake Speedway, finishing third. Saldana is just 15 points behind Donny Schatz in the series standings as he chases his first career World of Outlaws title.

“It’s definitely special,” said Saldana of winning with his car owner at the race. “Kasey (Kahne) only gets to come to a handful of races all year. If it wasn’t for him, Budweiser wouldn’t be involved in our sport. It’s nice to have sponsors like this involved in our sport. Our sport definitely deserves the recognition, because it’s awesome racing and short track racing is where it’s at, especially on dirt. I can’t thank him enough for giving me this opportunity. It’s definitely been an opportunity of a lifetime.”

[u Enjoying every moment of it:] After competing in a sprint car race in Ohio last Tuesday night, Kasey Kahne headed to 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa for the World of Outlaws event last Wednesday night to watch his two cars in action with Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky at the helm. After competing at Chicagoland Speedway in Joliet, Illinois on Saturday night, Kahne made the trip north to Cedar Lake Speedway in Wisconsin, where his two cars finished third and sixth.

“That was awesome to be here and be a fan and get to watch it,” said Kahne after Saldana’s win at 34 Raceway. “I am glad all you fans were able to see an awesome sprint car race tonight.”

[u Fans first:] Jason Meyers continued his success at Cedar Lake Speedway on Sunday night, leading 15 laps and finishing second. In eight career starts at the high-banked 3/8-mile, the native of Clovis, California has finished in the Top-10. After congratulating winner Donny Schatz after the race, he thanked all the fans that took in the action at the Wisconsin oval.

“It was a great race and a great crowd here tonight,” said Meyers after the race on Sunday night. “It’s good to see all of these people coming out to see sprint car racing.”

[u In contention again:] Terry McCarl was fast again in both events he competed in with the World of Outlaws over the last week. He set quick time at 34 Raceway and wound up third in the main event at the track in his home state of Iowa. On Sunday night at Cedar Lake he started on the front row and ran in the lead pack for the first half of the main event before fading a little at the end and winding up ninth.

“Joey did a great job and they are having an awesome year,” stated McCarl after the event at 34 Raceway. “We are having a great as well and I think we are just a tick behind them on some nights, but I think we are picking up some every night and I look forward to the rest of the season.”

[u A stunning machine:] Bob and Beulah Elder from Belleville, Illinois brought their immaculate Elder Cadillac “Special 55” to 34 Raceway last Wednesday night for fans to get an up close look at. The sprinter competed in 116 feature races, winning 18 of those between 1973-1976 mainly with the United States Automobile Club (USAC). The machine finished second in the USAC standings in 1976. A venerable “Who’s Who” of sprint car drivers strapped into the machine including: Gary Bettenhausen, Tom Bigelow, Jimmy Caruthers, Jim Hurtibise, Mel Kenyon, Larry Rice, Tim Richmond, Ron Shuman and Rich Vogler.

[u A great cause:] On Saturday, July 25, the World of Outlaws Benevolent Fund will host a Benefit Lunch at Williams Grove Speedway during the Summer Nationals. The lunch will offer Sprint car fans the opportunity catch up with current World of Outlaws drivers and bid on a limited number of unique items all in an effort to aid the organization that helps injured drivers.

The event will take place on the grounds of Williams Grove Speedway; in the camping area just off of the road each of the haulers enter the track. Lunch will be served from 12-1 p.m. Eastern and the items up for auction will be sold between 1:00 – 1:30 p.m. Eastern. Items including wing panels and body parts from current World of Outlaws cars as well as getaway packages to the 2009 World Finals and the 2010 Knoxville Nationals.
