URSS Sprint Cars Headline First Responders Night Friday at DCRP!

The United Rebel Sprint Series takes center stage during Friday night’s First Responder Night atop the 3/8-mile Dodge City Raceway Park clay oval that coincides with the ten-day long Dodge City Days festival.

First Responders and family receive free admission to Friday night’s action that fires off at 7:30 p.m.

Along with the URSS Sprint Cars, the track’s championship chase divisions of IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Sport Modifieds, IMCA Stock Cars and Thunder Cars will be in action as well.

Friday’s card marks the third of four URSS stops at DCRP in 2014 with Zac Taylor victorious over a 28-car field on May 10 and then Jake Bubak finally breaking the streak of ten different winners in as many events by topping the 29-car URSS portion of the Steve King Memorial on June 28 with a last corner pass for the win.

The reigning URSS National champion, Arvada, Colorado’s Bubak leads both URSS National and Kansas Regional points.

Bubak holds a 178-point lead over Liberal’s Steven Richardson in National points with Jeremy Huish, Zach Blurton and Wyoming’s Taylor among the top five. In Kansas points, Bubak’s lead is just 20 points over Richardson with Blurton another 26 points back in third.

While Bubak leads the Sprint Car ranks into Friday’s action, Ryan Heger, Jeff Kaup, Perry Misner and William Bauer hold top rankings in DCRP championship chase action.

Hugoton’s Heger is just one point ahead of defending champ Austin Allen of Wichita in the IMCA Modified title chase with Woodard, Oklahoma’s Cole Traugott just 13 points out of the lead in third. Brendon Gemmill became the first repeat winner of the year in this past weekend’s Second Annual Modified Stampede.

Woodward’s Kaup still holds an 80-point lead in the IMCA Sport Modified ranks despite a rough ending in Saturday’s card, while Misner stretched his IMCA Stock Car points lead 77 points with his fourth win of the year on Saturday. Bauer continues to cling to the Thunder Car points lead with a 13-point advantage over Saturday night winner Matt O’Hair.

While First Responders and family get in free on Friday, general admission tickets for adults are just $15 with children 11 and under free when accompanied by an adult. Pit passes are $30.
