Beierle Endures Roller Coaster 1,200cc Mini Sprint Debut at Tulsa Shootout

Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (Jan. 5, 2015) – Andee Beierle’s debut in a 1,200cc nonwing mini sprint started well at the 30th annual Speedway Motors Tulsa Shootout.

Beierle, who was driving for Spiker Racing Products, maneuvered from seventh to fourth place last Thursday during a heat race on the quarter-mile bullring inside the River Spirit Expo Center.

“I moved up three spots in my heat so that was good because it’s passing points,” she said. “I was really excited. It felt good to be able to be successful and move up a couple positions. I was really pumped. I’d love to do that every day.”

Unfortunately, Beierle faced a tight race car during her qualifier later that evening.

“They watered the track right before we went out and then they had us pack just the bottom,” she said. “The track was rubbered and when we got the green flag everybody on the high side was in the slick and didn’t go anywhere. The car was way too tight during the qualifier and I lost a couple of positions.”

Beierle’s sixth-place finish lined her up on the outside of the front row of the B Main, which was contested on Saturday.

“It was going really well,” she said. “I was getting ready to pass for the lead and it blew a rod. That’s how it goes. It was so frustrating because the car was running so well. I had a great car and a great crew thanks to Spiker Racing Products. Stuff like that happens. It was a great experience and I’d love to do it again. It did give me seat time and laps on the track for Chili Bowl.”

Beierle will return to the River Spirit Expo Center for the 29th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals Jan. 13-17 when she will pilot a midget for Daum Motorsports.
