Park Jefferson Speedway accepting intership applications

If you are looking for a career in the racing and sports industry, obtaining an internship with the Park Jefferson Speedway is an excellent way to start your career in this fast paced, exciting industry! Park Jefferson Speedway and AtoZ Promotions offer several different internship opportunities that will help you gain valuable experience to prepare you for the next step in your career. Full Time Internships

The Full Time Interns will work in the Park Jefferson Speedway front office Monday through Friday assisting with the day to day duties of running the track, and also each of the 17 races. In addition, candidates may be involved in additional races that are promoted at other tracks around the region, including the Dakotas, Minnesota, Iowa and Nebraska. Candidates must be willing to work long hours during the race season, which runs from May through September. These are paid internships, but applicants are also encouraged to complete the internship for college credit.

Sports Management Interns

The Sports Management Internship will be a broad reaching position which will allow applicants to be involved in all aspects of the track, including the opportunity to plan their own events. They will experience the entire facet of what it is like to work in the front office of a race track. Duties will include but are not limited to: stadium operations, public relation appearances, promotional planning, ticket selling, ticket order processing, video/music/media production, grass roots marketing, etc.
Applicants should be pursuing a degree in sports management, marketing etc. or a related field and/or have a strong desire to work in the racing or sports industry post-graduation. Prior sports experience and/or knowledge preferred.

Ticket Sales Intern

The Ticket Sales Intern will be involved with making sales calls to local businesses and groups to sell group outings. Besides making sales calls, the candidate will be assisting with sales contracts, filing, database tracking, and other sales. This intern will work in the box office on race nights running either a ticketing window or will call window.
Applicants should have prior sales experience or be interested in learning sales skills. Applicants must be outgoing, with a friendly positive attitude and not be afraid to pick up the phone and have conversations with prospective clients. Because the sports industry is heavily focused on ticket sales, this is a great experience for an individual to jump start their career in this exciting industry.

Part Time Internships
The Part Time Interns will work all of the 17 race events. The Part Time Interns will also have public relations guest appearances that they are required to attend. This is a non-paid position and Park Jefferson prefers candidates that can complete this internship for college credit. This is an excellent opportunity to find out if working for a minor league sports franchise is the right career for you! Working this position does allow candidates to have another part-time job throughout the summer, but candidates must give priority to all Park Jefferson Speedway events.

Race Day Interns (Multiple Position Openings)

The Race Day Intern Staff will work at each of the Park Jefferson Speedways race events and other public relation events in Sioux City throughout the summer (early May through first weekend in September). Interns will assist each night with the setup of the race track and its operation. Interns will help in coordinating the on-field promotions, ticket taking, customer service, fun zone supervision and other aspects involved in running an entertainment show for the fans.
Applicants should be outgoing, energetic, and enjoy working/being outside. Applicants should also have a positive attitude and work well in a team and individually. A general understanding of auto racing is encouraged.

Media Relations Intern (1 Position Opening)

The Media Relations Intern will work with the race-day announcing staff. The intern will be responsible for coordination with announcer and racing series staff to present a professional program. In addition, the intern will be responsible for handling all pit side reporting duties as well as victory lane interviews. In addition, the intern will contribute to the race report at the conclusion of the event.
Applicants with prior sports writing experience and/or radio broadcast experience is a huge plus. Applicants must be a good writer and be able to provide examples of stories or events that they have covered through other job or classroom experience.
