Inside Line Promotions – GREENWOOD, Neb. (May 6, 2015) – Last Friday provided a special moment for Jack Dover, who ran second to a good friend during the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprints event at I-80 Speedway.

“I really wanted to win, but it feels good to have a podium finish and to see Cody (Ledger) win,” he said. “I’ve been helping him a lot with setups the last couple of years so it was great to see him win.”

Dover opened the event by charging from seventh to win his heat race.

“We had a great start and jumped to second on the straightaway and then took first on the back straightaway,” he said.

That earned Dover the most overall points and a spot in the feature redraw, where he pulled the No. 4 to line up on the outside of the second row for the 25-lap main event.

“We got out to the lead right away and we were riding around, not pressing the issue too hard because the track was starting to take rubber,” he said. “I was taking it easy on my tires. Cody slid me with about eight laps to go and he pulled away from me.

“He had a good car and we had a good car. I think he had a slight edge over us. We went out with some used tires and I think in the long run that hurt us.”

The second-place finish marked Dover’s first podium result of the season

“The first couple of races this season we couldn’t even finish,” he said. “At this point we just need to finish features. Anything after that is pretty good right now.”

Dover, whose scheduled race last Saturday at Butler County Speedway in Rising City, Neb., was rained out, is slated to compete this Thursday at Lakeside Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., during the McCarthy Auto Group KC Klassic with the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour before racing on Friday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Neb., with the FVP National Sprint League.
