Stephan, Mills, Boulware, Clift, & Johnson Victorious on 5/27

A big crowd was on hand at Park Jefferson Speedway on Family Fun Night 6/27. Drew Johnson won the Sport Compacts, Craig Clift won the Hobby Stocks, Todd Boulware won the Pederson Machine Sport Mods, Chris Mills won the J&J Fitting Stock Cars, and Ricky Stephan won the Sign Masters Modifieds.

Pole sitter Aaron Edwardson and 4th place starter Drew Johnson jumped out to an early lead on the field. The first six laps saw Johnson stalk Edwardson in his tracks looking for a lane to pass. With six to go, Johnson attempted inside passes on Edwardson, but could never gain the lead. The final three laps saw the two race side-by-side for the win, with Johnson finally completing an inside pass in turns three and four on the last lap. Johnson won his second race of the year at Park Jefferson, with Edwardson settling for 2nd, and Luke Jackson taking third.

Hobby Stock feature action saw front row starter Craig Clift take an early eight car length lead and maintain that lead throughout the 14 lap race to win his 2nd race of the year. Fourth place starter David Miller took 2nd, with Andy Hoffman finishing where he started in third.

Todd Boulware sliced his way through traffic from his 4th place starting position to take the lead on lap one in Pederson Machine Sport Mod feature action. Karl Brewer pressured Boulware constantly in the first 12 laps of the race, but Brewer ran out of steam as Boulware inched away for his third win of the year. Brewer finished in 2nd, with Darin Roepke taking 3rd.

J&J Fitting Stock Car action saw Chris Mills jump to the lead in turn one from his 3rd place starting spot. Mills would check out from the field as the battle for 2nd ensued. Second place starter Shane Krueger fell back to fourth, but made it back to 2nd after a battle with Max Hoffer and Jim Hall. Hoffer would move back into 2nd just as Krueger lost bite in turn 4 with a spin. A late restart with five to go, would be no challenge for Mills as he pulled away for his first win of the year, but the race for 2nd continued as Hoffer fended off third place finisher Hall.

Sign Masters Modifieds saw Ricky Stephan and Jim Cole battle early for the lead, with Stephan winning the battle to edge away from the field. Last place starter Jay Noteboom was making moves through the field using the very top of the banking. Noteboom passed Jim Cole and Bob Moore to move into third before a yellow came out with 4 laps remaining. Noteboom restarted on the outside of row two, allowing him to run his outside line. Noteboom cleared Thies on the backstretch, and tracked down Stephans to pull even with him a lap later. Stephans was able to fight off Noteboom to keep the lead. Heading into turn three on the last lap, Noteboom drove it in hard for a chance at victory, but drove his car over the banking allowing Stephans to win his first feature of the year. Jim Thies finished 2nd, and Jim Cole took 3rd.
