Mark Dobmeier Tops National Sprint League Field at Park Jeff

410 Sprint Cars returned to Park Jefferson Speedway on July 10th for the first time since 2000. Mark Dobmeier claimed the National Sprint League victory. Pederson Machine Sport Mods saw Kaleb Kennedy take victory, Gaylen Freese claimed the Hobby Stock win, and Cody Thompson claimed his first victory of the year in the Sport Compact feature.

Sport Compact feature action saw Cody Thompson jump to an early lead, while Luke Jackson from 5th, and Aaron Edwardson from 7th followed behind after one lap. Jackson pressured under Cody Thompson for the lead heavily at the halfway point of the 12 lap race. With four laps to go, Edwardson moved by Jackson for 2nd on the backstretch, and going in turn three, Edwardson dove under Thompson for the lead but spun out, which collected Luke Jackson. Ewardson and Jackson retired from the race due to damage, which allowed Cody Thompson to cruise to victory in the final four laps. Andrew Harris finished 2nd, and Tim Cass placed 3rd.

Pole sitter Gaylen Freese jumped to the lead in Hobby Stock feature action. Andy Hoffman moved into 2nd from his 3rd starting spot, and Craig Clift quickly moved into 3rd after starting 8th. Hoffman and Clift swapped 2nd and 3rd multiple times throughout the race as Freese was four car lengths ahead. On a late restart, Clift was shuffled towards the rear of the field, allowing Mike Hanson to join Freese and Hoffman in the top 3. Gaylen Freese won his first race of the year, while Hoffman fended off many challenges to take 2nd, while Mike Hanson took 3rd.

Rusty Montague led the field to green in the Pederson Machine Sport Mod feature. A few laps in, Todd Boulware took the lead from Montague with a slide job pass in turn four. Kaleb Kennedy would overtake Montague for 2nd, and eventually closed in on race leader Boulware. With two laps remaining, Kennedy used the momentous high side in turn one to take the lead from Boulware. Kennedy drove away from Boulware in the final laps to take the victory, Boulware settled for 2nd and Montague finished third.

The 410 Sprint Cars of the National Sprint League were the final race of the evening. Pole sitter Dusty Zomer took the early lead while he fended off a challenge from Mark Dobmeier. Lap traffic allowed Zomer to get a sizable lead on Dobmeier. The battle for 2nd heated up as Danny Lasoski and Mark Dobmeier made contact coming out of turn four with nine laps remaining. Lasoski spun and did a 720 but kept his race machine moving forward allowing him to retain the 3rd position. On the single file restart with 9 to go, Dobmeier executed a perfect slide job to pull in front of Zomer in turn 2 for the lead. Another late restart bunched the field for a green-white-checkered finish, but Dobmeier was strong enough to hold off the pack behind him. Dobmeier claimed the exciting feature win, with Zomer taking 2nd, Lasoski took 3rd, Bill Balog in 4th, and rounding out the top five was Ian Madsen.
