Caney, Kansas (September 5, 2015) - It has been awhile since Alex DeCamp has visited the Ameri-Flex Hose and Accessories / Oil Capital Racing Series winners circle. Last season DeCamp led all competitors with five victories.

However, this season DeCamp has been winless in his first six shows. That drought came to an end on Saturday with a victory in the Ameri-Flex / OCRS 30-lap main event at Caney Valley Speedway.

DeCamp became the tenth different driver to win an Ameri-Flex / OCRS feature in 2015.

The win may have served notice that DeCamp in back in winning form.

“We have been working on our setup all year and have been struggling on a tacky track,” said DeCamp who was racing with OCRS for the first time since July 19. “We wanted to get the car where it needed to be before we came and tried running against some (other) competition.”

Starting outside front row, DeCamp was able to race into the early lead ahead of pole sitter Nigel Calvert and went the 30-lap distance for the victory.

“We had a good run tonight. It was good wherever I wanted to go,” DeCamp said of his sprinter. “I knew the track was going to rubber at some point and had to go down there (low groove) before I got passed. You have to watch lapped traffic and see if anyone starts picking up speed. We were able to do that.”

Being out front while racing through lapped traffic in the 22-car starting field was a challenge. Zach Chappell moved into second on lap six and tried to run down DeCamp without success. On lap 22, points leader Robert Sellers took over the runner-up position and closed up on DeCamp. Crossing the finish line in heavy traffic, DeCamp was only .291 seconds ahead of Sellers as raced under the checkered flag waved by flagman J.D. Etter.

“I want to thank Sellers for racing me clean when we caught lapped traffic with about four or five to go,” DeCamp said. “He could have done anything to get around me.”
Sellers settled for second but it was good enough to clinch the 2015 Ameri-Flex / OCRS season points championship with two events remaining.

Zach Chappell held on to third at the finish followed by defending Ameri-Flex / OCRS champion Andrew Deal in fourth and Danny Smith who was fifth.

Saturday the Ameri-Flex / OCRS Series returns to Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada for the 9th annual Oklahoma State Championship presented by Dooling Machine Products. The race will pay $2,000-to-win and $250-to-start.
