Inside Line Promotions – TULSA, Okla. (Jan. 19, 2016) – Seth Bergman had a strong performance last weekend at the 30th annual Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Nationals Presented by General Tire.

Bergman, who was driving for A.J. Felker Racing during the premier midget event at Tulsa Expo Raceway, kicked off the competition featuring a record 336 drivers on Thursday during preliminary competition.

“We drew a decent number to start the night and with passing so critical every time you hit the track I knew we needed to put ourselves in position to win our heat race,” he said.

Bergman did just that as he powered from third to record the heat race triumph. He then placed sixth in a qualifier, which relegated him to a B Main.

“We weren’t as good as we needed to be after the heat race,” he said. “We managed to transfer through the B Main into the main event, but weren’t able to make as much progress as we hoped. It’s a lot different to hop into a midget once or twice a year when you’re used to racing winged sprint cars full time.”

Bergman, who placed fourth in the consolation race to transfer into the feature, advanced from 24th to 20th in the main event.

That put him in a D Main during Saturday’s finale, where the top six transferred into the C Main.

“We ran in a transfer spot for most of the race,” he said. “I felt confident we were going to transfer into the C Main and we’d see if we had enough to pass some cars to transfer into the B Main, but unfortunately a mechanical problem ended our night early.”

Bergman was running in a transfer position heading to the white flag when he stopped on the track because of mechanical woes. He was unable to finish the D Main.

“I want to thank A.J. Felker Racing and everyone for their support,” he said. “It was a great experience and I hope I get the opportunity to race the Chili Bowl again next year.”
