PJ Transponder Orders due April 15

PJ Transponder Orders due April 15

Attention Racers:

Westhold transponders are mandatory for all regular divisions at Park Jefferson with the exception of IMCA Sport Compacts. To learn about purchasing options directly from Westhold, visit their website at
www.westhold.com. Transponders will be available for per night or annual rental each night of racing at the track. Park Jefferson Speedway has invested in the Westhold Electronic Timing & Scoring system. Park Jefferson will rent transponders to those teams who do not own a transponder. Rental cost will be $10 per night and will be deducted from that evening’s payout.

The most important advantage in use of the transponder system is accurate timing & scoring. With electronic scoring, cars will automatically be scored at the timing loop at the start/finish line and will be accurate. If your team has erroneously been scored in the wrong position using a manual system, the rental fees will have paid for itself. The second advantage of the system is that Park Jefferson Speedway will now have live timing & scoring available in the pit area. There will be a scoring monitor attached to the Pit Shack and the live timing & scoring will also be available on your laptop, iPad, or any other Apple or Android device. The Race Monitor app is the only software needed for the smart devices. That cost goes to Race Monitor and is not affiliated with Park Jefferson Speedway.

Purchasing Transponders

In lieu of renting a transponder, teams are encouraged to obtain their own personal transponder. There are a number of online companies who offer both wired and portable transponders for sale. Park Jefferson will be putting in an order for both wired and wireless transponders on April 15th. The track is planning to purchase 60 wireless transponders for rent, which allows us purchase them at a cost of $160.

Any driver can purchase a wired transponder or wireless device at that time for $160 as well. Should a driver want to purchase a wireless transponder, they would also need to purchase a recharger for $30. Wired transponders do not require a recharger.

The major advantage of purchasing a transponder is the cost savings and portability. The Westhold timing and scoring system is currently used at I-80 Speedway, Eagle Raceway, Shelby County Speedway and is being considered at Crawford County Speedway.

To order the transponder, please email Adam at adam@parkjeff.com or call the track office at 712-202-5540 with your credit card details and we will order it for you and have it delivered to your shop or at the track.
