Jarrett Picks Up Eighth Top 10 of the Year at CSP's Mother's Day Classic

After a rare Phoenix rain storm caused the cancellation of April 30th’s event, the Power 600 Series was back in action Saturday running non-wing at Canyon Speedway Park for the Sixth Annual Mother’s Day Race.

22 cars would check in at pill draw for the event. Jarrett's pill would have him lining up 5th in Heat 3.

Heat 3 would be under yellow seconds after going green as a car next to Jarrett had a flat rear and spun to a stop in turn 4. On the full restart the cars would get bunched up going into turn 1, but would space out a little coming out of two and Jarrett would pick up a position to move into 4th heading down the backstretch. The yellow would fly just as the first lap was completed for a car slowed up against the wall in the entrance of turn 3. On the following single file restart, Jarrett would battle for 3rd right away. He would gain the position in turn 4 and track down the 2nd place car on lap 3 of the 6 lap Heat and make the pass coming out of turn 2. Another yellow would come out with 2 laps to go for a car slowed down in turn 3. Jarrett would put some pressure on the leader in the final 2 laps, but would wind up finishing Heat 3 in 2nd.

Based on the Heat race results, Jarrett would end up being the Top Qualifier of night which would line him up 6th for the 25 lap Main.

The start of the Main would be a little hectic in front of Jarrett as the 4th and 5th place cars would get together in front of him, but Jarrett was able to drive around both cars,as the track stayed green, and move into 3rd. Jarrett would fall back to 4th, but a well timed caution on lap 3 for a car stopped in turn 4 would line him back up in 3rd with 22 to go. Jarrett was with the leaders on the restart but on the following lap he would slide out of the groove in 3 and 4 and would fall back to 7th. Jarrett would battle hard for 6th before the next caution would fly for a car stalled on the backstretch. On that restart Jarrett was side by side for 6th but his momentum was stopped when the 4th place car had to check up in front of him. Jarrett would settle into 7th for a couple laps before the next caution would fly with 13 laps to go for a wreck in turn 2. Jarrett would remain in 7th during the next green flag run that would end with a two car wreck in turn 1 with 6 laps to go. Jarrett would fall back one position on the final restart to 8th, he would continue to fight for position in the closing laps. Jarrett would cross the finish line in 8th, picking up his 8th Top 10 finish of the year.
