Bellm Posts Top-Five at Sedalia; Sets Sights on Double X

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (May 26, 2016) – Kyle Bellm picked off his second top-five finish in as many starts at Missouri’s State Fair Speedway this season by taking the checkered flag fifth in last Friday night’s 25-lap ASCS Warrior Region feature event atop “The Historic Half-Mile.”

With one more idle weekend before Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action kicks into high gear, Bellm and the Resource Asset Management Solutions (RAMS) No. 14k Sprint Car team will take in another round of ASCS Warrior competition with Sunday night’s Tribute to Jesse and Daniel “Take it to the Tail Challenge” at California, Missouri’s Double X Speedway.

“I’m excited to get back to Double X this weekend, it’s always a lot of fun to race there,” the driver of the PPG Automotive Finishes/Colorvision entry commented. Bellm won a pair of features at the tight, quarter-mile clay oval when he last competed there in 2014.

Bellm picked up some momentum last Friday at Sedalia that he and the Schure Built Suspensions/Christian County Collision Repair team would like to carry into next week’s trio of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events in Indiana and Michigan.

“We had a good night,” Bellm said of the Sedalia outing. “We got a top five and loaded it in the trailer in one piece, so no complaints at all.”

The night got off to a strong start for Bellm in the Bybee Lawn Care/Dynotech Racing Engines mount. “We were fast in the heat, started fourth and won that to get in the redraw.”

After redrawing a three, Bellm started the feature event inside the second row.

“I didn’t get a very good start, I went high when I probably shouldn’t have and got shuffled back,” Bellm said after falling back to seventh in the early going aboard the Schaeffer Oil/Prater Designs/Racinboys machine.

Bellm battled back though, working his way back up to fifth by race’s end.

“It got pretty spread out, so it took a while to run down one car, get clear of them and try to run down the next one,” Bellm said.

A top-five helps build the momentum Bellm and crew are looking for going into a busy slate of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour events in June.

“We have had good speed each time out, we just need to start putting the good finishes together,” Bellm wraps up.

2016 Quick Stats: 13 races, 1 win, 3 top-five, 4 top-tens.
