Sandusky Speedway Opts Out Of This Weekend

SANDUSKY (OH) - Officials from Sandusky Speedway have announced that they will not race this weekend, giving an already small fan base an opportunity to plan other options for this weekend. Toledo Speedway running the King of Wing National Sprint Car Shoot Out, Lorain County Speedway running a 2 day Supermodified show and Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk running a full weekend with the Summit Racing NHRA Nationals are all within an hour of the Sandusky 1/2 mile track. Further out Columbus Motor Speedway will be running a 125 Lap CRA ARCA Super Series race, Ohio Speed Week continues to move around the Ohio area as well as a ARCA Gold Cup/MERS co-sanctioned Super Late Model race at Flat Rock Speedway all which will offer any race fan their racing fix for the weekend.

According to Kevin Jaycox, owner of Sandusky Speedway it was the right thing to do. "We looked at all the events taking place this weekend and knowing that tracks continue to struggle to get fans and with us running a weekly show we thought that we should cancel this weekend race to give fans (as well as drivers/crews) an opportunity to visit some of these other events." Jaycox went on to add "We want to work with all tracks around us and try and do what is best for the sport and if I ran this weekend an had 100 fans in the stands this week, that would be 100 less fans someplace else and nobody ever wins when we split an already small fan base."

The popular chain race, where two cars are chained together with the front having the power and the rear car having the brakes that was scheduled for this weekend will be rescheduled.
