Castrol Raceway July 9
We finally was able to get back on the track for 2016 after a summer full of rain outs. On July 9, 2016 we raced at Castrol Raceway. Not really been able to have much laps on our new car with the rain out we did not know how our car would be. In hot laps the car was great. Our first heat race Wayne spun out and the 7A car ran into us and we had a DNF in the heat race. Our race team (Sonny Tonner, Nolan Tonner, Dustin Paquette, Ron Mega, Dan Cornelius, Kelly Daniels, Emily Callihoo) worked very hard to get the car ready for the main race. We got the car back out all though it was not perfect car. We were lucky enough to salvage a 6th place finish.
Drayton Valley Speedway July 16
The weather again was looking like rain but the rain held off and was able to get a full night of racing in. Wayne finished 2nd in Heat 1. At one point Wayne took the lead but a red flag came out to freeze the field to the last completed lap which put Wayne back in 2nd and finished in this position. Heat 2 Wayne finished 4th. the car was fairly good, our crew made a few changes on the car to try to get abit more out of the car. Wayne started 3rd in the Main Feature race and fell back to 4th, was battling it out with the 57 of Ed Weirsma and was finally able to get ahead of the hard driving of Ed Wiersma. Wayne had a good handling car and looked to be the fastest on the track and was catching 2nd place and was able to get side by side a few times of the 14 of Kyle Van Ulden in 2nd place and Chevy Goodhope in 1st place only a car length in front of 2nd place. Wayne ended in 3rd place of the 16 lap main race. Thanks to my crew (Sonny Tonner, Kim Edinger, Dan Cornelius, Kelly Daniels) for giving me a chance to run in the top 3 and receive 3rd place trophy.
