This past Sunday, August 7th, Aman Motorsports ventured to Brandon, SD to take on the Badlands Motor Speedway at the Brandon Pizza Ranch Double Down Weekend. The team unloaded in the infield and prepped for the evenings events. After only a couple of hot laps on a heavy track, it was time to check lineups. Charles drew 78, which put him starting 5th in heat 1. On the start, he fell back to 6th, and remained there the rest of the heat. After points were tallied, he was slated to start 12th in the main, out of 15 cars present. After making a few changes to the car, the team was ready for the main.
On the drop of the green, the field started to spread out. On lap six, Charles fell back to 13th, still trying to stay with the pack. The caution came out on lap 8 for a spun car in turn 2. With 7 official laps remaining, they lined up for the single file restart. On the restart, Charles made a pass to reclaim 12th, then another pass to move up to 11th. A lap later, the caution came out once again for another car spun around in turn 2. 6 laps remained as they lined up once again. On the restart, Charles made another pass for 10th. A car came to a stop in turns 3 and 4 missing its left rear wheel on the next lap, and would bring out the caution for the last time. The field again lined up for the final restart of the race. With 5 laps to go, Charles would hold his position and take the checkered flag in the 10th spot.
This coming weekend, the Aman Motorsports team heads to the Concordia High Banks on Saturday. Hot laps start at 6:30, with racing at 7pm. They will also tentatively be going to Stuart, IA on Sunday to run with the Iowa Micro Sprint Series at Stuart International Speedway. Hot laps begin at 5:30, with racing at 6pm.
