SALINA, Okla. — October 17, 2016 — The O’Reilly Auto Parts Twister Showdown for the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at Salina Highbanks Speedway in Salina, Okla., is this week, on Saturday, October 22. The Outlaws recently wrapped up their final East Coast Swing of the season, with a pair of races in Pennsylvania.
On Friday, October 14, Danny Dietrich picked up the win in the National Open at the famed Williams Grove Speedway. The home state driver took the lead from Joey Saldana, with just two laps remaining in the 40-lap contest, to score the $25,000 win. Saldana, who led 37 total laps, finished second, with Brad Sweet third, Donny Schatz fourth and David Gravel fifth.
Logan Schuchart scored his second win of the season on Saturday, October 15 in dominating fashion at Port Royal Speedway. Schuchart started second and took the lead on the third lap from Lucas Wolfe. Schuchart would pace the remainder of the 30-lapper, taking the checkered flag over 4-seconds ahead of the next closest competitor, Greg Hodnett. Schatz crossed the line third, with Wolfe fourth and Lance Dewease fifth.
Schatz extended his lead in the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series point standings as he closes in on his eighth championship. The battle for the second spot continues to rage on, as Daryn Pittman holds a seven point lead over Gravel. Sweet is fourth in points, seven markers behind Gravel and 14 out of second. Saldana moved back into the fifth spot in the standings. Shane Stewart is currently sixth, with Jason Johnson seventh, Schuchart eighth, Jason Sides ninth and Paul McMahan 10th.
Grand Nationals,an outlaw stock car class, will be the support class for this event.
