BMARA Drivers and Teams See Rough Start to 2017 Chili Bowl Nationals

Tulsa, OK - January 10, 2017 – The 2017 edition of the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals began the process of narrowing its field of over 370 entries down to the top 24 with Tuesday’s Warren CAT Qualifying Night. The Badger Midget Auto Racing Association was well represented with a combination of current and past drivers and teams taking part.

Two-time BMARA Midget Series driving champion, Mike Hess, lead the BMARA contingent by winning his heat race placing him into Qualifier Race 4. Hess started his Qualifier from the third position and went on to win with a comfortable margin transferring to the preliminary A-main based on his accumulated passing points for the evening. Hess finished the A-main in the 19th position.

Five-time BMARA Midget Series driving champion, Kevin Olson, sported his open face helmet to a fourth place finish in heat race competition after starting from the pole position. Olson was relegated to the C-main based on passing points where he finished in the fifth position just short of a transfer position.

Aaron Schuck, the third place finisher in 2016 BMARA Midget Driver standings, finished third in heat race competition putting him into Qualifier Race 1 on the evening. Schuck found himself working his way through the field before being involved in an incident with a spinning car. Schuck was struck in the right rear damaging his car and ending his evening.

Ray Seach, driving for 2015 BMARA Midget Series champion car owners Manic Racing, saw the worst of the night. Seach took the lead on the opening circuit of his heat race and was looking strong before contact from another driver sent him flipping. Repairs were made to his car for the D-main where he finished fifth outside of a transfer position.
