Former BMARA Regulars Travis Berryhill & Manic Racing Upset Chili Bowl Field in Wednesday Night Preliminary Feature Event

Tulsa, Oklahoma – January 11, 2017 – Former Badger Midget Auto Racing Association regulars Travis Berryhill and 2015 BMARA Midget Series Car Owner Champion’s Manic Racing combined to provide one of the biggest upsets in recent Chili Bowl Midget Nationals History by winning the Wednesday Night Preliminary feature event.

Former BMARA regular Andrew Felker started the feature from the pole position and led the opening laps of the event. Berryhill quickly made his way from his fifth starting position to take the lead from Felker. Once in the lead Berryhill saw a challenge from the #91 of Kevin Bayer before a caution slowed the event. On the restart Berryhill stormed to a sizeable advantage and never relinquished the lead again.

Berryhill has recently found a niche in his motorsports career working for the National Hot Rod Association’s Don Schumacher Racing team, but on this day it was all about his driving career as he found himself a star on Midget racing’s biggest stage.

Other notable performances with BMARA ties included current BMARA driving champion, Brandon Waelti, A.J. Fike, Katlynn Leer, Johnny Herrera, and Daniel Robinson.

Fike finished the feature event in the twentieth position. Waelti narrowly missed the A-main starting field when he finished one position outside of a transfer spot in the first of two B-main events. Herrera gave former BMARA car owner’s Speedquip Motorsports a great run also narrowly missing the A-main with a sixth place finish in the second B-main. Katlynn Leer, driving for the Wilke-Pak team was unable to transfer beyond the C-main, and Daniel Robinson could not find his way beyond the C-main as well.

Look for more action from the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals as more drivers and teams with a BMARA connection vie to make their mark on the biggest Midget race in the world.
