Flud Doubles Up and Gass Garners First-Ever Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Victory to Open Season at Texas Short Track Opener

Inside Line Promotions – GREENVILLE, Texas (Feb. 17, 2017) – Frank Flud doubled up and Noah Gass picked up his first career Driven Midwest USAC NOW600 National Micro Series presented by MyRacePass feature victory on Friday when more than 100 entries invaded Superbowl Speedway during the first round of the Texas Short Track Opener.

Flud, who leads all competitors with 15 career wins with the series, and Gass are locked into the pole position of their respective classes on Saturday following the trips into the Inside Line Promotions Victory Lane.

Flud charged from seventh to claim the Winged ‘A’ Class main event – his fifth career with the series – and he advanced from fourth to capture the Stock Non-Wing feature – his seventh career. Meanwhile Gass took advantage of the pole position on Friday to garner the win during the event, which is co-sanctioned with the Driven Midwest NOW600 North Texas Region.

Marcus Thomas, Kyle Jones and Kaylee Bryson also locked into Saturday’s A Main after placing in the top four of the Winged ‘A’ Class main event with Chad Bell rounding out the top five.

Holley Hollan, Bryson, Flud, Jones and Thomas were the heat race winners with Blake Dacus and Kevin Bayer earning B Main victories.

Cody Price, Colby Stubblefield and 11th-starting Trevor McIntire locked into Saturday’s Stock Non-Wing A Main following top-four results with Thomas placing fifth.

Jones, Flud, Nathan Berkshier and Jason McDougal captured heat race triumphs with Jordan Barbee and Bash Ferguson claiming B Main triumphs.

Dylan Pendergrass, Daison Pursley and Jarret Hjorth joined Gass as top-four finishers in the Restricted ‘A’ Class feature to lock into Saturday’s A Main as Riley Goodno ended fifth.

Pursley, Goodno and Chase Randall each won a heat race and Jake Nail powered to the B Main victory.

The finale of the Texas Short Track Opener is Saturday as the front gates open at 4 p.m. with hot laps at 5:30 p.m. and racing at 6 p.m. The drivers meeting and draw are slated for 4:30 p.m. If a driver is running late he or she can call Mattox at 918-417-0624 to be signed in.

Adult general admission tickets are $12 with children ages 7 to 11 and senior citizens only $7. Children ages 6 and younger get in free. Pit passes are $30.
