Peoria, AZ | March 15, 2017 – Making his first Non-Wing attempt of the 2017 season, Jarrett Martin traveled to Peoria, Arizona’s Canyon Speedway Park with a topless Pace Chassis on Saturday night. Following an unfortunate incident that ended his bid for a heat race win, Martin aimed for vengeance in the main event, but would not gain much. Bending a steering arm on an initial start, Martin willed an ill-handling machine up to the tenth spot, ending his weekend on the positive note of a top ten finish.
After fighting a tight car in hotlaps, Martin and his Streaker Racing crew made several changes to the No. 20AZ heading into the heat races. Starting from the outside pole, the Phoenix native stormed into the lead at the drop of the green flag. Competing in a heated battle for the top spot near halfway, contact for the position would sadly end Martin’s race and line him up at the back of the field for the feature.
Starting the main event in 14th, Martin found himself in early trouble as on the initial start, a jumbled field resulted in a bent steering arm. Fighting the misfortune from inside the cockpit, Martin insisted on finishing the night and forged ahead in the field. Sneaking his way into the tenth position, the 20-year old capped off a rough night with a solid top ten result.
The former Arizona Non-Wing champion will take a few weeks off, as he prepares next for an April Fool’s showdown at Peoria’s Canyon Speedway Park on Saturday, April 1st.
