Matt Covington's ASCS Speedweeks-Creek

After a long couple of off nights working on the car, Covington Motorsports rolled into Creek County Speedway. With the track being only a few miles from home Matt was ready to race infront of family and friends. The draw would not be so lucky for Matt as he would start outside row four of the heat. With the track being heavy and a loaded heat race, starting 8th would make it tough to gain any passing points. Matt was able to advance one spot and bring the Covington Motorsports Maxim home to a 7th place finish. This would start Matt in the Middle of the B Main field. Still fighting a tight race car, Matt would survive and make the last and final transfer into the A Main. This would give Matt a 10th row starting spot fot the A Main. At the start of the A Main Matt was able to pass a few cars and avoid the crashes to move up in the field. There would be a open red flag about half-way into the race to give Matt and crew time to make needed adjustments. When the race resumed Matt was able to pass and take over the 10th postion. Matt would race hard as the track was starting to slick off and go away. He was able to wrestle away the 9th spot with just a handfull of laps remaining. On the last and final lap Matt would go high to try and pass for 8th, only to get loose on the high side and fall back to 10th at the checkers.

This solid top-ten run is what was needed for the Covington Motorsports team. Hopefully the team will be able to carry the momentum through the rest of Speedweeks. The next race on the Speedweeks schedule is State Fair Speedway in Oklahoma City.
