26 Promotions – Las Cruces, NM – (June 14th, 2017) – Spencer Hill’s POWRi Lucas Oil 305 New Mexico Wing Sprints season has not started the way he had hoped. After opening the season with a seventh-place finish, Hill and his team have struggled to put all the pieces together in last four races. Saturday saw Hill and his team take a step in the right direction as he ran both the 305 Sprint Car and the Micro Sprint for the first time this season.

Hill kicked off the night with Micro Sprint action, winning his Heat from fourth. Drawing the three-pill for the Feature re-draw, lined Hill up on the inside of the second row for the Feature.

Hill took control of the lead after the opening lap. He’d never look back from there as he’d have a comfortable lead as he crossed the checkered flag, picking up his first win of the season.

The night did not get off to such a great start in the Sprint Car, as the team found a fuel leak before hot laps.

“We struggled quite a bit leading into our Main Event on Saturday,” Hill explained. “Right before Hot Laps, we discovered a fuel leak on the car, and did our best to repair it for the Heat race but were unsuccessful in doing so.”

Hill made the decision to pull the car off the track after running two laps in the Heat when he noticed fuel entering the cockpit. With a borrowed fuel line, the team was able to fix the issue and started the Feature from the seventeenth position.

“I started making my way forward using the cushion, but made a mistake as I was passing for position on lap 16,” explained Hill. “I let the right rear slip over the crown of the track down the back straightaway, and slid to a halt off the top of turn three.”

Toward the end of the Feature, Hill made the move to the bottom of the track and made his way forward to a tenth-place finish.

“Unfortunately, I just ran out of time and had to settle for a tenth - place,” said Hill. “Overall, I think we made huge strides this weekend. Everything went great with the Micro Sprint, and we are in great shape for California. As far as the Sprint Car goes, my guys gave me a great BSE Technical Services 4s to rip around the track. With as fast as these guys are, you cannot make mistakes in these short Main Events and I made a big one Saturday that put us even further behind the eight ball.”

Hill and his team look to build on the top ten finish when they return to Southern New Mexico Speedway in two weeks.

“A top ten is definitely a step in the right direction,” he said. “I’m really looking forward to carrying everything I learned this weekend into our next race on June 24th. Thank you again to all the people who support this program.”

Hill is eligible for the All-Star race that will also take place on June 24th and he's asking for all his fans to vote. You can get Spencer into the All-Star race by casting your vote at this link: https://fans.vote/v/ACowl1zhdZw

Spencer Hill would like to thank BSE Technical Services, VP Racing Fuels, SEH Motorsports, Hassell Racing, 26 Promotions and Bell Helmets for their continued support.
