This Saturday night Park Jefferson turns the calendar forward to Pepsi Night. Featuring six classes of IMCA racing along with the Keizer Wheels Championship Sprint Cars and invading Nebraska Mod Lites it should be a full night at Park Jefferson. The big story of the night is the turn toward the 2nd half of the season. Drivers have competed in eight events, excluding 3 rainouts, during the 2017 season and there are six point events remaining. With six point events remaining in the track season, each and every race will be tight as drivers battle for the championship.
In the SignMasters Modifieds, it is really a 3 horse race as Bob Moore and Ricky Stephan are separated by a mere 2 points. Jason Speed Schneider’s sits 14 points out of the top spot. Zach Van Voorst is a runaway rookie of the year runner but is too far back to make an impact without more wins.
The J&J Fitting Stock Cars have had a nice 3 week rest and many of the cars have gone through repairs and rehab for the stretch run. Paul Wenzlaff looks to build on a very successful season to add to his 2015 championship. It will be tough with Elijah Zevenbergen, Greg Taylor and Todd Gereau hanging in the top spots just a few points out, along with the ever improving Aaron Guillaune.
Todd Boulware has swept to the top spot of the Schaeffer Oil Sport Mods but holds a very slim lead over Dave Riley, Rusty Montagne and Nick Peters, with Jeff Brunssen still within striking distance. The same can be said about the Hobby Stocks as Aaron Shearn is just three points above David Miller and seven clear of track man Craig Clift.
After a tough DQ to Tyler Thompson, David Bates has taken over the top spot but Thompson, Jackson an Derek Boggs are all within striking distance to the top guy.
The IMCA Sprint Cars are only 3 races in, however it is clear that Colin Smith is the clear leader as the only driver to make all 3 races. John Lambertz, Brandon Stevenson and Josh Sterrett are all in the battle for the 2nd spot.
The Keizer Wheels Championship Sprint Cars has a new name at the top as Cody Hanson has taken over the top spot. Hanson, who suffered a violent flip early in the year, has come back to take the top spot over Ryan Bickett and Elliot Amdahl.
Gates open this Saturday at 5 pm, with racing slated to start 15 minutes later at 7:15 pm to allow for the extra hot laps. Adult tickets are $12, Seniors 70+ are $5 and children 6-16 are $2. The clubhouse will be open for an additional $12.
