Barker, Ballenger and Noteboom hammer to Liberty Bank Victories

A night of great weather and a large crowd was on hand for Liberty National Bank night at the Park Jefferson Speedway this past Saturday night. Fans were treated to some fantastic racing all over the track and saw some feisty veterans return to victory lane.

In the featured J&J Fitting Stock Car Road to the Iron Cup Feature, it was Travis Barker picking up the top spot. Barker, who was runner up in points during the 2016 campaign, was able to use an ex Chris Mills car to roar around the track to the front. Ryan Harris, who has been either hot or cold this year, was able to come from deep to take second and Todd Gereau inched closer to a potential track title taking a valuable point over Paul Wenzlaff.

In the IMCA RACESaver Sprints, it was “The Combine” Dusty Ballenger being the first driver to find victory lane twice in this season at Park Jefferson. Ballenger came from the 3rd row to take the top spots over John Lambertz and Trevor Smith. Point leader Colin Smith struggled with a 11th place finish.

It was the immortal veteran Jay Noteboom who showed once again why he is 2nd in overall victories taking the top spot over a field of 13 SignMasters Modifieds. Noteboom was able to come from the 5th row to pass both Jason Schneider’s and Chris Mills to take the top spot. Schneider’s, who has been the bridesmaid multiple times this year put the J&J Fitting 44x in 2nd over 2016 Stock Car Champion Chris Mills’ 3rd place finish.

Vermillion, SD’s “King of the Brew Crew” Karl Brewer was able to come from deep in the field to take top honors. Brewer was able to put great moves around every part of the track topped Cody Thompson and Todd Boulware on the podium. Brewer’s season has been up and down, but seems to have found a new setup that is up to speed at the best time of the year.

Andy Hoffman and Craig Clift cannot be stopped in the IMCA Hobby Stocks, as Hoffman, who was facing a suspension from IMCA due to an altercation at another track, was able to stave off the suspension and take a ridiculous 6th victory at Park Jefferson this season. Of course the blue Stephan Welding 77 was right there and took over the point lead in the IMCA Hobby Stock division.

Brody Spreng took home a huge first place check in the Fox 620 IMCA Sport Compact division which saw a season high 13 competitors battle it out. Spreng was able to take the win over Luke Jackson and David Bates, and has become a legitimate winner and championship contender every time he touches the track. Spreng was able to battle past Luke Jackson and brought David Bates along with him to sit on the podium, with race sponsor Derek Boggs just missing out on the top 3. Spreng was also the hard charger of the evening.

This Saturday night, all six regular divisions will be joined by the SLMR in a night that will see a return of the mighty super late models. Gates will open at 5pm with hot laps at 6:30. Adults will be $15, seniors 70+ $10, and children 6-16 are $5. For more information go to www.parkjeff.com or call 712-202-5540.
