26 Promotions – Peoria, AZ – (August 6th, 2017) – Defending Power 600 Series Champion Paul Martin outlasted the competition on Saturday night at Canyon Speedway Park on his way to his first win of the year.
Twenty-two winged Micros checked in for action on Saturday night with Jarrett Martin, Paul Martin, and AJ Hernandez picking up heat race wins. Paul Martin led from the drop of the green in heat 2, after holding off a strong charge from Mason Keefer in the opening laps. His heat race win earned him enough points to make the six-car invert, lining him up third.
AJ Hernandez and Jarrett Martin dominated the first half of the feature, with Hernandez hold off Martin for the first eight laps. Martin took the lead in turn one and began to set sail on the field. Paul Martin ran most of the race in the third position, but took over second with about five laps to go, but it was still Jarrett Martin out in front. Coming out of turn four to the white flag, Jarrett Martin lost his left rear wheel ending his night and setting up a green-white-checker finish. Paul Martin assumed the lead on the restart and held off Hernandez in the two-lap shootout to earn his first win of the year. Ryan Walter rounded out the podium charging from seventeenth to finish third. Kyle Huttenhow finished fourth from seventh and rookie Chase Alves completed the top five in his first-ever Micro start.
The Power 600 Series – Precision Tile Micro Sprints return to action on September 16th when they return to the small track at Canyon Speedway Park. Restricted Micros, IMCA Modifieds, Arizona Differential IMCA Sport Mods, IMCA Stock Cars, and IMCA Hobby Stocks will also be in action.
Pit gates open at 4, spectator gates open at 5 with racing getting underway at 7:00. There is a mandatory driver’s meeting at the Power 600 Series trailer directly following Canyon’s driver meeting.
