26 Promotions – Show Low, AZ – (August 16th, 2017) – Dale Eliason Jr earned his fifth top five of the year Friday night, after finishing one spot short of a thousand dollar pay day.

Eliason Jr and his dad made the four-hour trip up north to Show Low, Arizona for what was originally scheduled to be a two-day event, Saturday’s event was eventually canceled due to heavy rain.

“Show Low is by far my favorite outdoor track, I’ve been waiting all year to run it,” said Eliason Jr. “I showed up to the track really pumped and confident. I drew the seven in pill draw, lining me up on the pole for the second heat. I stood my line and ended up winning it.”

Eliason Jr’s heat win put him in the feature redraw, where he pulled the one, placing him on the pole for the start of the feature.

“The car was a tad loose in the heat, so I told my dad to tighten it up a bit. I shouldn’t have told him that and we should have left the car alone,” Eliason Jr explained. “On the start for the main, I realized the car was super tight and I entered turn one too low.”

Coming out of turn two, Eliason Jr had Jarrett Martin on his inside and USAC Sprint Car driver Stevie Sussex on his outside. Eliason Jr fell back to third but changed his line around after three laps. After a caution, Eliason Jr got to the inside of Sussex to move into second.

“Jarrett started pulling away from me, but around ten laps in his motor started smoking, then blew,” he said. “I restarted on the pole and had it until about seven to go when Sussex got around me on the outside.”

The Iceman continued to run his line as hard he could in the closing laps as Sussex ran the top of the track.

“I almost got around him on the backstretch with three to go, but it wasn’t enough,” he said. “I ran second against Sussex, which I would say is an awesome night.”

Eliason Jr is scheduled to be back in action on September 16th with the Power 600 Series at Canyon Speedway Park for the IMCA Night of Champions.

Dale Eliason Jr would like to thank Affordable Powder Coating, Copper State Bolt & Nut, Custom Caretaking Plus INC, DOLCRX, Guhl Motors, HJ Tile, Industrial Machinery Services, PMP Chassis, Seros Racing Engines, and T & K Repair for their continued support.
