BRANSON/LARSON “COCA-COLA SPRING CLASSIC” ON TAP WEDNESDAY NIGHT AT ELDORA SPEEDWAY; RAIN INTERRUPTS “LARRY RICE CLASSIC” AT BLOOMINGTON

The USAC AMSOIL National Sprint Car series resumes this Wednesday night with the running of the “Coca-Cola Sprint Classic” at Tony Stewart’s Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. The race which continues the “Don Branson/Jud Larson Classic” tradition as well, was originally postponed April 2.

Wednesday’s Eldora event also showcases the modifieds and track owner Stewart is slated to compete in that portion of the program and plans to participate in a special autograph session with former track owner Earl Baltes and racing legend Jack Hewitt.

Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. continues at the top of the USAC AMSOIL National Sprint car standings after rains interrupted last Friday night’s “Larry Rice Classic” at the Bloomington (Ind.) Speedway. Gardner has a 12-point lead over Jerry Coons Jr., who will seek car owner Dynamics, Inc.’s all-time USAC record 76th victory at Eldora.

Qualifications and the first heat had been completed before the rains hit Bloomington. Danny Holtsclaw posted the fastest qualifying time at 11.213 seconds and won the only completed heat race. The second heat race participants were on the track when the rains came.
