Park Jeff features IMCA Action Saturday

Park Jefferson returns to action this Saturday night with fast paced IMCA weekly racing on hand for fans in the Siouxland. Co headlined by the IMCA Sprint Cars and the IMCA Modifieds, the point season is well under way and teams are already battling tooth and nail for top honors. With the IMCA point handicapping sending top point drivers to the 12 starting spot which will be a treat for fans and teams alike as it forces the best teams to navigate from deep.

One driver who has already shown early speed is the Hinton Hammer, Jay Noteboom. Noteboom continues his quest to conquer the immortal Joe Kosiski at the top of the all-time Park Jefferson Speedway winners list. Kosiski, who began his victory count in the 1980’s, is now just 2 wins ahead of Noteboom according to statistician Butch Knouse. Kosiski currently sits at 73 feature wins, however Noteboom’s 2 victories to open the year puts his total at 71, just 2 behind Kosiski.

In the IMCA Sprint Cars, Dusty Ballenger and Elliot Amdahl, two drivers that have significant laps around Park Jefferson in both 360 and IMCA Sprint Cars, share the top of the leaderboard. “The Combine” Ballenger has long been a regional stud while Amdahl is the new up and comer who is knocking on the door. Join with them last week’s winner Nate Eakin, and defending IMCA sprint car champ Colin Smith, this division is a wide open affair.

The track was unable to secure a weekly sponsor for this Saturday’s action so the 360 sprint cars have been dropped from this weekend’s program. The next weekly 360 show is scheduled for July 14 with the sanction Nebraska 360 vs MSTS show scheduled for May 26th.

Joining the co headline divisions will be all the IMCA classes including the J&J Fitting Stock Cars, IMCA Sport Modifieds, Z98 Hobby Stocks and IMCA Sport Compacts. Gates open this Saturday at 5pm with hot laps slated for 6:30 and racing to follow. Adult tickets are $12, Seniors 70+ are $5 and children 6-16 are $2.
