Sun Prairie, WI Aug. 6---Rain showers interrupted Sunday Night’s "Open Wheel Mania" at Angell Park Speedway. The event featured The Zimbrick Chevrolet of Sun Prairie Badger Midget Racing Series & POWRi Lucas Oil Regional Midget Series, POWRi Lucas Oil WAR Sprints & Auto Meter Wisconsin wingLESS Sprint Car Series, Badger 600 Micro Series presented by My RacePass, and the Wisconsin Legend Dirt Racing Series.
The rain out has set-up a unique situation which hasn’t been seen at the track in thirty-six years. This Sunday’s August 12 event will feature double midget features. The rained-out Aug. 5 feature will be the first event of the evening, with a complete separate regularly scheduled midget program run afterwards. Also, on the schedule for racing will be the MSA Sprint Cars Series and the Wisconsin Legend Dirt Racing Series.
Jordan Mattson winner of heat race two and Mike Stroik will be the front row for the “rain out feature”, with fast qualifier Scott Hatton starting in eighth position. Third heat race winner Kevin Olson will start inside row 2. Brad Weber, making just his second midget start in sixteen years scored a popular victory wining heat race one, and will start from the 15th place starting position.
The Badger 600 Micro Series presented by My RacePass feature will be run during the Sept. 2 event at the track. Justin Pearson won the legends feature.Grandstand seating opens at 4:00 pm; practice at 5:30 pm, with racing to follow practice.
