Inside Line Promotions – OSWEGO, N.Y. (Aug. 21, 2018) – Joe Trenca’s non-wing super modified debut will have to wait for another day.

The Mucci Motorsports driver was set to make his first career start in the unique race car last Saturday at Oswego Speedway. Unfortunately, mechanical problems sidelined the Jason Simmons Racing entry before the start of the action.

“A super modified is one of the most unique race cars on the planet,” Trenca said. “Everything is hand built because they’re so different. To get to the source of the problem we would have had to pull the motor out and that’s a three-hour task. We probably ran 10 or 15 practice laps, but the problem got progressively worse. I would have liked to run a full night before we ran the 200, but it is what it is. We’ll get it squared away and we’ll get the motor dynoed.”

Trenca said he will have a practice night early next week prior to the 62nd annual Budweiser International Classic 200 during Labor Day Weekend.

First there is a sprint car doubleheader this weekend. Trenca will compete on Friday at Outlaw Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., and Saturday at Woodhull Raceway in Woodhull, N.Y., with the Patriot Sprint Tour.

“I’m excited to get back to both tracks,” he said. “We’ve had a decent amount of success at both tracks so hopefully we can keep improving and put ourselves in a position to race for a win or two.”

Trenca posted his season-best result of ninth during his most recent start at Outlaw Speedway, where he has netted at least one top 10 in each of the last four seasons. He recorded a seventh-place run in May 2017 during his most recent visit to Woodhull Raceway.
