It’s time for the Fall Nationals at Red Dirt Raceway

Sport Mod, Pure Stock, Mini Stock, Micros and Dirt Mini Late Models/Mini Mods/Dwarfs are on tap for this Friday, September 28th

By John Rittenoure, MEEKER, Okla. (September 24, 2018) - Fall has arrived and that means it is time for the Fall Nationals at Red Dirt Raceway.

On Friday night Sport Mods and Pure Stocks will battle on the fast Red Dirt quarter mile. They will be joined by the open-wheel winged restricted micros, 600cc non-wing micros, Hornets, Mini-Stocks and the popular Dirt Mini Late Models.

The point season is nearing the end and drivers are scrambling to advance in the Sport Mod and Pure Stock standings. Jeff Rozelle of Newalla has two victories and leads Travis Penrod of Davis by 48 points in the Sport Mod division. Scott Wilson of Okemah has yet to win in the Pure Stocks, but is holding down the top spot by just 29 points of Shawn Brownlee.

Dirt Mini Late Models are relatively new to this part of the country but the class is growing in popularity. The cars are a small version of a dirt late model with similar bodies and are powered by 599cc motorcycle engines. Just like their micro sprint cousins they will be very quick on the Red Dirt oval.

Gate open on Friday at 6 p.m. Hot laps are scheduled for 7:15 with racing getting underway at 8.

Red Dirt Raceway is located on state highway 18 between Chandler and Shawnee. Exit I-44 at Chandler and follow highway 18 south. From I-40 take the highway 18 exit and head north through Meeker.
