54-LAP 4TH ANNUAL JOE REILLY CROWN ROYAL CLASSIC THIS THURSDAY, JULY 11 AT NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY PARK, HOME TO LANCASTER NATIONAL SPEEDWAY

The Race of Champions Asphalt Sportsman Modified Series will head to New York International Raceway Park home to Lancaster National Speedway this coming Thursday, July 11 for the running of the 4th Annual Joe Reilly Crown Royal Classic. The feature will be a 54-lap dash for competitors and the second race of the season for the series.

Eddie Hawkins of Walworth, N.Y., dominated the opening round of the Series at Spencer Speedway in Williamson, N.Y., with a fast time, qualifying race win and dominating performance that saw him lead all of the laps in the feature event after redrawing the pole on Friday, June 28.

“I didn’t know Joe (Reilly) all that well, but the out pouring of support shows what kind of man he was,” stated Hawkins. “It should be an exciting night. We are really looking forward to it. Lancaster is a tough place, but I’m excited about going there. The car was so good at Spencer and everything just went our way. We’ll see how Lancaster plays out, hopefully it is as good as Spencer.”

As a bonus, over $2,600 in lap and special award money has been raised for the event, each team participating in the event will receive a minimum of one bonus award. The money will be distributed to drivers and teams throughout the field. Many awards will presented at $54 in honor of Reilly and the cars that he prepared.

Also joining the card in addition to the Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Series will be the Lancaster Street Stock and Lancaster Four Cylinder divisions as well the NYPA T.Q. Midgets.
