Doug Didero Eyes Victory in Oswego's Independence Weekend 'Grand Prix' 75

OSWEGO, NY (July 1, 2019) - A unique mix of Supermodified teams and drivers are expected for Oswego Speedway’s Holiday Inn Express & Suites Independence Weekend Grand Prix on July 6 and that field will include the return of hall of famer Doug Didero.

Since debuting his brand new No. 3 last season, Didero has finishes of second, second, fourth, and fourth and has showed tremendous speed with the John Colloca built racer. He’ll continue his search for a win in this Saturday’s 75-lap main event.

“The new aero package changed a lot for us this year and we’re going to continue chasing to make it better,” Didero said. “John (Colloca) and the crew do a fantastic job with the car and I’ve really enjoyed myself. I’m excited to see where we will stack up this weekend.”

Should Didero find victory lane on Saturday or at some point this season, it would mark his first Oswego checkered flag since August 8 of 2009. The Canadian turned North Carolina resident is currently tied with Doug Heveron for eighth on the all-time wins list.

Grand Prix Night racing at Oswego will also include extra distance events for the Pathfinder Bank SBS and the 350 Supermodifieds. The season’s second driver autograph session and Novelis Fan Can Chase will be held before the on track program with fireworks to follow.

For those planning to attend, the pit pass window will open at 2:30pm, grandstand gates open at 4:00, and hot laps will begin at 4:00. Driver autographs will be held from 5:15 to 6:00 with time trials taking place at 6:20. The first heat race of the evening will see the green flag at 7:00.
