Ashley Cappetta Claims First Lincoln Speedway Victory

East Berlin’s Ashley Cappetta began her racing career in 2012 as the owner and driver of the 89 machine. Ashley had never raced anything before her first debut at Trailway Speedway in her 358 sprint car, but as she comes from a long line of racing, Ashley knew this was what she was born to do. In 2017, she then picked up her first ever main sponsor – Smokers Outlet.
Through the years the team has dealt with their fair share of bad luck. From leading the feature at Lincoln once and getting a flat tire to several engine failures.

But not this weekend.

Cappetta pulled pill 28 to start out the night, starting her 5th in the heat. Ashley then finished 2nd in her heat race, giving her the pole position for the 358 feature event. She took the lead at the beginning and never looked back. Leading all 20 laps of the race she battled a few cautions as well as second and third place finishers Dylan Norris- 44 and Tyler Ross- 41B.
Leading into an emotional victory lane, full of hugs and happy tears. Ashley remembers her biggest fan Destiny, wishing she could have been there to see it. As well as her hero/mentor Greg Hodnett to which she dedicated her win. Ashley spent many Saturday nights in victory lane with Greg Hodnett growing up, which made this night so much more special.
