The rain stayed away and the cars played at the Devils Playground Saturday August 24th. The fans had a lot of action to keep there eyes on. With side by side racing and 3 wide action has become the norm at the Devils Lake Speedway this season.
Dan Bromstad of Lavern ND came out with a heat win starting in the second position. Feature time Cody Armstrong of Devils Lake drove from 4th place to Park it in victory lane. Top 5 finishes 5th place Mark Bromstad of Hope ND 4th place Dan Bromstad 3rd Place Colten Laber of Mandan ND 2nd place Dan Arends of Devils Lake ND 1st place Cody Armstrong.
The Wissota Street stocks put on a show. Rookie Driver Seth Klostreich of Grand Forks ND was the winner of Heat 1. And second year driver Bradon Miller of Lakota ND was the Heat 2 winner. The battle was on for the feature with many many laps of 3 wide actions and side by side action. Miller drove from 5th place to park his 5 machine into victory lane. With Dan Aberle of Finely ND coming from 8th place to 2nd. Seth Klostreich finishing 3rd. Shane Swanson of Devils Lake ND finishing 4th and Joe Armstrong of Crary ND finishing 5th.
Randy Thompson of Lakota, ND and Aaron Blacklance of Thief River Falls MN were heat winners in the Wissota Midwest Mod category. Randy Thompson started pole for the feature and had to hold off the veteran field behind him. Thompson was able to hold off driver Aaron Blacklance who started 8th in the feature. Thompson came out victorious and made his 1st trip to victory lane. Top 5 finishes 5th place Jason Schuh of Lakota. 4th Place Cole Haugland of Brocket ND. 3rd Place Eric Haugland of Lawton ND. 2nd Place Aaron Blacklance 1st Place Randy Thompson.
CAOSS Sprints ended the action pack night. Heat winners went to Brendan Mullen and Dusty Lawson. Feature time young driver Brendan Mullens took an early lead and checked out. Mullens managed to maneuver through lap traffic all the while holding off veteran drivers Wade Nygaard and Greg Nikitenko to make his 1st ever appearance into victory lane in the big sprint. Top 5 finishes 5th place Kyle Fedyk of Estevan SK. 4th Place Ryder Olson of Ray ND. 3rd Place Greg Nikitenko of Minot ND. 2nd Place Wade Nygaard of Grand Forks ND and 1st Place Brendan Mullen of Grand Forks ND.
The Devils Playground will be back in action this Saturday and Sunday for the Season Championship. On Sunday points Championship, Mechanics Race and Powder Puff races.
