Bryan Hulbert – SAPULPA, Okla. (August 24, 2019) Six divisions in action this past Saturday night with four of those seeing first-time winners on the 2019 season, the action was plenty as Creek County Speedway avoided the wrath of Mother Nature.
Leading the charge of winners, Danny Smith topped the Champ Sprints in his 12th A-Feature start of the season. Rolling to the front from the eighth starting spot, Smith was followed by Alex DeCamp who gridded the field 10th. Jase Randolph in third had Layne Himebaugh and Corey McGehee in tow to complete the top five.
With the top three all starting outside the top five in the Modifieds, Kendall Shultz made his first mark on the season from 10th. Making very few trips to the quarter-mile throughout the season, Shultz has been close on three occasions but made his breakthrough in the fourth attempt. Brandon Dean in second followed from ninth with Ho Dean in third after starting seventh. Mike Northrup and Dustin Leatherman made up the top five.
Keeping up the trend of drivers having to charge through the field, Chris Wilhite, Sr. was the third driver to land his first win of the season. Doing so from seventh, Brandon Jarvis followed in second after starting 10th with Chris Wilhite, Jr. completing the night’s podium. Chris Wilson and Cody McClain made up the top five.
The final driver who made his first stop in Victory Lane on Saturday night, Justin Foltz topped the Dwarf Cars with Jason Miles, Chandler Foltz, Paul Kaseman, and Larry Pense completing the top five.
Keeping his grip tight on the Mini Stocks, Wesley Knebel landed his seventh in on the season in 15 A-Feature starts. Moving up from ninth, Knebel was pursued by Kevin McSperitt, Jr. from 10th with Adrien Hickman, Justin Ford, and Justin Melton in the top five. The Jr. Mini Stocks making their second appearance of the season, the young racers were topped again by Blake Green. Lane Traster, Alexis Stowe, Caleb Hawkins, and Kelby Bowers made up the field.
Races at Creek County Speedway continue Saturday, August 31 with the Iron Man 55, featuring Non-Wing Champ Sprints and Pure Stocks. The $3,000 to win affair also comes with a special $15 all-access pass.
Saturday events open at 5:00 P.M. with Hot Laps at 7:00 P.M. and Racing at 7:30 P.M. (CT). Special Event times will be posted as they arrive on the schedule.
