Bellm Set for Hockett/McMillin Memorial after another Top Five Run

Lonnie Wheatley, NIXA, Mo. (September 18, 2019) – Aster posting another top-five finish this past weekend at Lake Ozark Speedway, Kyle Bellm and the No. 14k Sprint Car team are ready for Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour action with this weekend’s “Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin” Memorial at Wheatland, Missouri’s Lucas Oil Speedway.

“It’s close to home for us and to get a win in this race that honors Jesse and Daniel would really mean a lot to us,” Bellm explains.

Bellm kicked off last year’s Hockett/McMillin Memorial with a fifth-place run. It’s an effort he hopes to duplicate during the Thursday and Friday preliminary events to set the stage for Saturday night’s $10,000-to-win finale.

“If we can just put together top-ten finishes each of the first two nights, that should put us in good shape for Saturday night,” Bellm explains. “We just need to draw decent and then survive the heat races and qualifiers.”

Bellm goes into the weekend after posting a fifth-place finish at Eldon, Missouri’s Lake Ozark Speedway on Saturday night. But he felt that he could have had more.

“We won the heat race, then I made one too many mistakes trying to make the pass for second and that cost us a couple of positions,” Bellm says. “The car was good, I feel good about where we’re at with it. I just have to clean some stuff up on my end and I believe we can be up front.”

Bellm’s fifth-place finish was his sixth top-five run and 15th overall top-ten of the season. Bellm’s most recent pair of Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour starts resulted in a pair of top-ten finishes at Lake Ozark Speedway.

He will be looking to add to those numbers on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The Kyle Bellm Racing efforts are made possible with support from marketing partners including Greenworks Nursery, Landscapes Awarded, Christian County Collision Repair, Bybee Lawn Care, PPG Automotive Finishes, Colorvision, Schure Built Suspensions, Schaeffers Racing Oil and Valley Park West Retirement Living.

Quick Stats: 28 Races, 1 win, 6 top-fives, 15 top-tens.
